Astrology of the Solomon Island earthquake

A powerful earthquake off the Solomon Islands on 6th February generated a small, but deadly tsunami on Wednesday, The Associated Press reported. The 8.0 magnitude temblor, which struck near the town of Lata, on Santa Cruz in Temotu province, prompted watches and warnings for the Solomons and other South Pacific nations. The Solomons comprise more than 200 islands with a population of about 552,000 people. They lie on the "Ring of Fire" – an arc of earthquake and volcanic zones that stretches around the Pacific Rim and where about 90 percent of the world's quakes occur.

Earthquakes are found to be associated with eclipses and with important planetary conjunctions and oppositions. If these two factors are combined, that is to say, if at the time of the eclipse (or its subsequent activation by transits) there is an important planetary conjunction or opposition, the probability of earthquakes is much increased. The four fixed signs and the early degrees of cardinal signs are significantly active during earthquakes and these are usually occupied by planets which are either rising, setting, culminating or on the nadir.

Shown above is the chart of the lunar eclipse of 29th November 2012 at Lata. This eclipse was activated by the Jupiter station direct  at 6 Ge on 30th January. A Mars-Pluto conjunction at 8 Capricorn  is placed on the nadir of the chart- another a critical degree for eclipses on Pacific Rim of Fire [1]. Progressing this chart  to 6th February brings the Ascendant to 4cp45 conjunct Pluto-Mars (8cp) and square Uranus (4ar) providing the trigger for the eclipse.

Besides the effect of the eclipse, on 4th February, a  conjunction of Mars and Neptune ( Poseidon the ‘Earth Shaker’ [2]) took place at 2pi –  another critical degree for eclipses on the Pacific Rim.[1].
On 6th February, the date of the earthquake, the Sun was at 17aq square the nodal axis 22 Scorpio-Taurus. This is a phenomena  termed  a Moon Wobble which occurs when the Sun forms a T-square to the lunar nodes. The energy is similar to that associated with eclipses, when the New or Full Moon aligns closely with the nodes.

Astrologer Carl Payne Tobey (1902-1980) who coined the term Moon Wobble discovered that  major disasters  took place not only in association with eclipses but also during a Moon Wobble. These types of problems are more likely if other troubling planetary configurations occur at the same time. The most notable times for disastrous occurrences range from a few days before to a few days following the exact aspect.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the magnitude-8.0 earthquake struck at 01:22 UTC on February 6, 2013 (Tuesday evening, June 5, in continental U.S.). A chart for the moment shows the Sun at the MC in a T-square to the  moon’s nodes on the horizon  perfectly in accord with  Tobey’s research.

Astrologers have noticed that the effect of lunations (new moon, full moon, eclipses) can take place even before they occur. The Solomon Island earthquake presents us with one such example. The New Moon of 10th Feb just 4 days after the event is placed exactly on the descendant  forming a T-square to the nodes – what has been earlier referred to as a ‘Moon wobble’.

Finally, Celeste Teal has chronicled how earthquakes tend to happen when the transiting Nodes pass over an eclipse point. The North Node [22sc02] is currently passing over the 14th November total eclipse degree [21sc57].

Note:
Another interesting insight comes from ancient Chinese astrology. The Yod formed by the lunar eclipse has one of the legs, Venus and Saturn, conjunct the stars of Corona Borealis. This area was given several names. It was Kang-Tchi, the Moat of the Court, representing the moat surrounding an island like palace where the Emperor lived. It was also Lien-So, the Garland and Lien-Ying, the Endless enclosure. With a little imagination, these are perfect descriptions of  an island surrounded by water or even of the Pacific Rim of Fire which resembles a garland.

In addition Manilius' astrological influences for the constellation Corona Borealis gives the cultivation of gardens, growing flowers, and arranging flowers into garlands.

The other sensitive degrees are 7º to 9º of the cardinal signs, which activate fault lines when transited by an outer planet. The earthquakes mentioned here are all located around the so-called Pacific Rim of Fire, which is described as the edge of the Pacific tectonic plate that spontaneously shifts to trigger earthquakes.
