The Cyrus
Cylinder is an ancient clay cylinder,
now broken into several fragments, on which is written a declaration in
Akkadian cuneiform script . The
2,600-year-old clay cylinder was made on the order of the Persian King Cyrus
after he captured Babylon
in 539 BC. Referred to by some scholars as the "first bill on human
rights", the cuneiform inscriptions on the cylinder appear to encourage
freedom of worship throughout the Persian Empire
and to allow deported people to return to their homelands. The empire, founded
by Cyrus and Darius, stretched from the Balkans to Central
Asia at its peak. It was the first state model based on diversity
and tolerance of different cultures and religions, according to Neil MacGregor,
director of the British Museum. On loan from the British Museum, the Cyrus
Cylinder is touring American museums at the time when "relations between
the US and Iran are not in their healthiest position", says Julian Raby.He
is director of the Freer and Sackler Galleries, where the prized piece of
pottery has just gone on display.
The
Persian-born Zaratas (Greek: Zoroaster) was a relative of King Cyrus the Great
(sixth century BC) and came to Babylon
in the wake of Cyrus' conquest of the city in 539 BC. He was soon acknowledged
as a great teacher by the Babylonian priesthood. Initiated by the sublime Being
of the Sun, Ahura Mazdao, so that his clairvoyance extended beyond the Sun to
the mighty beings of the zodiac, Zaratas spoke of four "royal stars"
- Aldeberan, the Bull's Eye, the central star of Mul Gud An Na, the "Bull
of Heaven"; Regulus, the Lion's Heart, shining from Mul Ur Gu La, the
Lion; Antares, the glowing red ember of Mul Gir Tab's (Scorpio's) heart; and
Fomalhaut, beneath the stream of water spilling from the urn of Mul Gu La,
"The Great One" (Aquarius).[1]
Shown above
is the lunar eclipse of June 13, 539 BC at Babylon . Notice that the eclipse is very
significant for the place since a powerful Grand
Cross [Jupiter-Uranus-Mars-Neptune] straddles the meridian axis.
We associate Mars, Jupiter, and
Uranus with the passion for freedom. Mars is simply the basic desire to do
whatever we please. Jupiter wants to be free to pursue an ultimate value,
whatever the individual has chosen as an ultimate goal in the life. Uranus wants
to transcend any past limits, to permit freedom for everyone provided they are
equally willing to allow it to others. Zip Dobyns [2]
Jupiter-Uranus: Emancipation
proclamation
The
meridian axis of the chart aligns with the Royal Persian stars Aldebaran (4ta) and
Antares(4sc). Is it a coincidence that the current Yod of Jupiter-Pluto-Saturn has
the apex planet Jupiter conjunct Aldebaran – a star historically connected to Cyrus
the Great and the Persian Royalty?
Aldebaran is a star of pioneering
leadership. It imparts the virtue of social morality and integrity and
challenges us to uphold it. As the apex planet of this Yod, Jupiter impels
wide-sweeping visionary action that establishes a socially sustainable and
protective infrastructure for all people and all life. It impels the practical
and well-grounded application of wealth and resources in an enterprising
capacity to support the fundamental well-being of all life. Nick Fiorenza [3]
As the
Cyrus Cylinder begins its tour from Washington on March 11, it is interesting
to note that the Ingress of Mars into
Aries on March 12, like the Winter Ingress chart (above) too has Uranus on the IC square Pluto essentially a call for freedom (Uranus)
from oppressive (Pluto) authority (Capricorn) especially when that
authority is no longer working in the interest of the people.
