The death toll in Thursday’s
collapse of an under-construction building here mounted to 41 as the rescuers
armed with sensor-fitted equipment were still looking for survivors and bodies
in the massive debris of bricks, mortar and twisted steel. Those dead included
nine women and 11 children, Thane Civic Corporation sources said on Friday. The
seven-storey unauthorised structure, which according to locals had come up in
just two months at Shil Phata at Daighar in Thane district, had come down
crashing in a heap last evening around 6.30
pm, in one of worst such tragedies in Maharashtra.
The
Capricorn Ingress chart (also called the Winter Solstice chart) is the standard
tool used in mundane astrology. Shown above is the chart for Thane where the incident took place. Notice
the Jupiter-Saturn-Pluto yod is prominently placed with Jupiter on the
Ascendant. Yods in astrology are like turning points when ‘fated’ events occur.
This yod has Pluto in Capricorn about
which Lynn Hayes writes:
One of the things I believe we’ll be
facing over the next few years as Pluto travels through Capricorn is the
erosion of the structures that support our human lives on the planet. Bridges,
tunnels, buildings – all are ruled
by Capricorn and subject to transformation while in Pluto’s domain.[1]
The Yod has
been discussed extensively by Nick
Fiorenza so that I will only quote a small section to explain that Jupiter’s
conjunction with the star Aldebaran has to do with physical infrastructure like
houses and buildings
Aldebaran inspires involvement with
physical places, business and projects supportive of our modalities of living
for self, family and friends…As the apex planet of this Yod, Jupiter impels
wide-sweeping visionary action that establishes a socially sustainable and
protective infrastructure for all people and all life. [2]
This is
precisely what the builders in their greed avoided so that the Pluto, the disrupter
and deprogrammer, kicked in with a fated
collapse. Pluto always makes us face our own controlling issues. And, finally, as if on cue, the asteroid 4950 ‘House’ [8sc35] conjoined the Saturn [8sc38] leg of the yod completing the picture!
I like to
give the analogy of a ‘clock’ with its ‘hour’, ‘minute’ and ‘second’ hand to explain how events occur in astrology. In
the case of the house collapse, the ‘hour hand’ is the Capricorn Ingress chart
which is promising a possible house collapse.
The ‘minute hand’ is the last quarter phase of
the Moon which duplicates the Capricorn Ingress chart.
Finally, we
have the ‘second hand’ which is the actual event chart. Here too the same yod
is prominent and accompanied by another
interlocking yod with Uranus. Pluto is on the IC, the fourth house cusp, the
point associated in astrology with buildings and houses!
