Iron Man arrives as Iron Lady departs

Bootes ‘driving’ the Great Bear

This combination is excellent for those who have to undergo hardship or danger.  The Martian influence is, as it were, tempered, and rendered more adaptable, ordered and controlled, while the Saturnian is energized and made more enterprising and courageous.  Such people have as a rule small regard for personal comfort or even safety, and may be excellent explorers, rulers of savage tribes or organisers of men needing firm control.  It denotes orderly and courageous action, endurance and sound practical abilities.  It (also) tends to hardship, self-abnegation and a disciplined life. Margaret Thatcher has Saturn in Scorpio (the sign ruled by Mars) on her Ascendant while Modi has Saturn conjunct the Sun and MC in a sextile aspect to Mars in Scorpio. Thatcher has been called the Iron Lady while Narendra Modi, who hails from the State of India’s Iron Man Sardar Patel, has often himself been referred to as the Iron Man.

The upcoming eclipse of 26 April straddles a Mars-Saturn opposition. Eclipses are known to mark the end of a chapter in life and the beginning of a new one.  All oppositions need to be referred back to the  conjunction of the planets since that is the start of the cycle. The conjunction of Mars-Saturn at 24li49 on 15 August 2012 at 10:36 UT was on the Ascendant at London and on the MC at Delhi.

At Margaret Thatcher’s death on April 8, the Ascendant progressed by the solar quotidian method is at [23cn25] square the Mars-Saturn [24li49] conjunction. Just about a week before, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) reinducted Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi into the party's Parliamentary Board on 31 March 13.[2] Modi's selection is being  seen as a major boost to his prime ministerial ambitions. On that day the progressed Ascendant (PSSR) at Delhi was 25li44 conjunct Mars-Saturn [24li49]. So as one Iron Man was beginning his journey an Iron Lady was departing from the world stage at the eclipse. (It is placed on the horizon at London and square to it at Delhi). Also the Ascendant of the eclipse at London is conjunct Thatcher’s radix Ascendant [15sc] and Saturn [14sc]. [4]

Finally, our analysis would  be incomplete without looking at the  star Arcturus [24li24] to which Mars-Saturn were conjunct. Alpha (α) Bootes, Arcturus, is a golden red star situated on the left knee of the Herdsman, the 4th brightest in the sky.

The constellation Bootes is represented by the figure of a herdsman, commonly said to be herding bears, though some report him driving oxen. He has been variously known as 'the Bear Keeper', 'the Wagoner', 'the Ploughman', the Shepherd' and 'the Driver (of the Wain)', and is situated in the heavens near Ursa Major - the Great Bear whom he is said to pursue around the Pole.

As the principle star of 'the Driver' modern authors have recognised the symbolism of organisation: the 'behind the scenes' planner whose strong energies are capable of driving events forward.  Ebertin and Hoffman claim that it makes the native "belligerent and quarrelsome" with an "enterprising spirit". Note:
Natally Thatcher has a radix Sun-Pluto square – a combination that we associate with a powerful, pushy and obsessive personality. Thatcher’s converse solar arc Pluto [20 ar]  is now opposite her radix Sun [20li] and Mercury [24li] also lord of the 8th house of death.  If that can be considered the ‘hour hand’ of the clock, the ‘minute hand’ is the opposition from the  Mars-Saturn [24li]  conjunction  of Aug 2012  discussed above and finally the ‘second hand’ is the upcoming New Moon at 20ar and the Mars transit at 20 Aries on 8 April.
