In praise of Bradley Manning

“Don’t ask yourself what the world needs;
ask yourself what makes you come alive.
And then go and do that.
Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”
~Howard Thurman

Bradley Edward Manning (born December 17, 1987) is a United States Army soldier who was arrested in May 2010 in Iraq on suspicion of having passed classified material to the website WikiLeaks. He was ultimately charged with 22 offenses, including communicating national defense information to an unauthorized source and aiding the enemy. He was arrested after Adrian Lamo, a computer hacker, told the FBI that Manning had confided during online chats (first chat May 21, 2010 at 1:41 pm) that he had downloaded material from these databases and passed it to WikiLeaks. Manning’s  trial began on June 3, 2013.

A chart drawn for 21 May 2010; 1:41 pm, Washington DC has the Sun at 0ge21 and the meridian axis  at 9ge-9sa. This axis is occupied by two prominent Persian royal stars Aldebaran (9ge) and Antares (9sa).The Sun is conjunct Mirfak, alpha star of Perseus, the hero, who rescues the chained woman Andromeda.

In classical astrology, Antares is the star of war and weaponry, and with expounded meaning, to challenge the established opposing politics (an arena common to the Antares / Aldebaran axis) with tenacious adamancy. This is especially in regard to taking a stand against the established conditions of our personal lives and against the established order or authority directing our lives when those conditions or that authority are no longer in our best interest nor supporting our evolutionary freedom and fulfillment.

But as I have explained in earlier posts, an event chart no matter how dramatic is still the ‘second hand’ of the clock. The primary  reason for Manning’s behaviour must be found in the ‘hour’ and ‘minute’ hands first. And here I propose that we examine the Total Solar Eclipse of 21 July 2009 as the hour hand. We notice immediately that a powerful T-square of Pluto-Uranus-Saturn  on the angles. Pluto had just entered Capricorn so that I quote what was written about it then:

Pluto changing signs into Capricorn is a rare and significant event with far-reaching repercussions. Since Pluto is, indeed, the “Great Transformer”, and revamps, reshapes, overhauls and thus transforms whatever it is currently impacting, it will bring this overhaul type energy to those areas that Capricorn rules, which are: (amongst others) Government and its policy, influence and actions at all levels (local, national and global).

The Saturn-Uranus opposition is a  conflict between the conservative and the liberal between  authority and rebellion. The T-square with Pluto   accelerates the pace of change  and contributes  to the empowerment of emancipatory and revolutionary movements.

The stars conjoining the eclipse confirm the appearance of a unique  person – a ‘black sheep’ or a ‘white stallion’ who contributes to the evolutionary process signified by the eclipse.

The New Moon Total Solar Eclipse of July 21-22, 2009 occured in early sidereal Cancer and conjoined the stars of the magical Unicorn and Aludra, the pure one of the breed. Aludra is the singular of Al Adhara, the Virgins--hence, a pure one of the breed. This is the white stallion, the black sheep, the unique person that does not fit in.

On the day of initiating action in the lunar cycle, in the 24-hour period after First Quarter Moon, Ceres and Haumea begin a new 1700-day (~4.6 yr) synodic cycle in sidereal Virgo. Ceres, now appropriately categorized as a Dwarf Planet, takes her rightful place as mother of the asteroids. Haumea seems to have a propensity to intercede with dynamic motion from a state of equilibrium and poise to support a new birth in consciousness with a greater spiritual awareness about the fundamental primordial forces of life. She appears to have a role in helping to reorient world powers' militaristic destructive use of power and resources into a nurturing force that supports and protects life, home and family; and that aids humanity's emergence into a spiritually and primordial aware state of being. At a personal level, Haumea inspires the application of our personal attributes and resources for the same principles.

Finally, the minute hand of the clock is the progression of the eclipse chart to 21 May 2010 when Manning began the process of disclosure. The MC of the chart conjoins  Pluto in Capricorn   triggering  all its associated aspects – the meaning of which has been  described above.
