Astrology as
a language is difficult to understand because it operates in way far removed from
anything else in our experience. But think of any serious subject, any science
- none of them would exist if they had chosen to stay with the language of
everyday life. They developed their own specialized concepts. Astrology might
be harder to understand because it operates in its own dimension called the
astral - an appropriate name because astral means relating to the stars. The
astral has a number of extraordinary features. One of them we are already
familiar with, its power to encode everything that happens into its system.
At some
level, in some dimension, all the things attributed to each planet come
together in something which embraces them all and explains them all. In the
early part of 20th century astrologers
began to understand that the different
attributes of a planet must be part of one and the same process or function. [1]
For instance we have developed a shorthand in which Venus stands for women as
well as works of art . So what is connection between works of art and women ? Both
are objects of beauty that appeal to us. We value them.
Let us now
go back to the two unrelated news items dated 5 Nov. On that date Venus slipped into Capricorn.
The chart for that event is shown above. It is drawn for Berlin
and not very different for Munich
for all practical purposes. We notice immediately that Venus-Pluto-Uranus-Hades-Kronos
form a Grand Cross with the MC – a very significant configuration. The meaning
attributed to the planets and TNPs are:
VENUS:
Femininity, women , "love", material
($$$) values, appreciation, art, relationship, union/unity.
HADES:
Disgust/distaste; degrading; the past -thus history and primitive origins
KRONOS:
Authoritative positions (experts); laws; legislators; executives; governmental leaders
PLUTO: interest in sex, hidden or repressed material;
major change.
URANUS: Emergence;
sudden events, innovative ideas
Here are
some key phrases for combination of planets and TNPs
Hades/Venus: Prostitutes;
art from the past
Hades-Kronos-Venus:
Art masters from the past; laws pertaining to prostitution
Pluto-Uranus:
Emergence of what was hidden
Kronos-Pluto: Changes
in laws
What are we
to make of the fact that the key symbols appear to connect the two news events?
Perhaps astrology is reminding us that if we wish to understand human existence
we must swim upstream nearer to the headwaters of the unmanifest.
