New light on Eris

One of the methods  for exploring the astrology of newly discovered objects in our solar system is outlined by Nick Fiorenza [1]. It entails looking at the stars that form the backdrop to the points of primary significance in a planet's orbit: the planet's perihelion; its aphelion and its north and south nodes. These four points compose a planet's "orbital cross."

For Eris the four points are Perihelion: 14li10, Aphelion: 14ar10; North Node: 6ta07, South Node: 6sc07 (tropical) [2]

Aphelion: 14ar10 A star on King’s crown is here so we may be dealing with leaders who love to show off  (Aries) and  lord  over  helpless followers. The chord that ties the two  Fishes is here and ensures that the saviour (the king) and helpless victim (Andromeda) are always connected.  With the very fortunate star Alpheratz (alpha Andromeda) also here  the possibility of  freedom and general good luck is high. [3]

Perihelion: 14li10 Here we have Algorab of Corvus the Raven and the Virgin’s wing and Herdsman’s reaping hook. The ‘lying’ Raven can represent weakness of character so that the justice and truth loving Virgin long’s to fly away. If the Virgin’s desire for purity goes too far, she may insist that there is only one proper way of doing things. But the best here under the influence of tropical Libra’s sense of balance climb out of intolerance and selfishness and develop a caring beneficence and honour. So we have issues of coldness, cruelty and neglect vs kindness and caring; smug closemindedness vs open minded receptivity to people. If the Herdsman is still influenced by the arrogant king’s role he can punish and drive his flock mercilessly  or if he has learnt tolerance he develops the ability to gather followers. [3]

The perihelion and aphelion star alignments reveal more about the general nature and role of planet.

Eris’ Perihelion-Aphelion Summary

Leaders overcoming their closemindedness and developing receptivity, kindness and caring is the general purpose of Eris.  Since they no longer force them to follow just one path, they develop the ability to gather followers.  

North Node: 6ta07

Although there are stars in Cassiopeia and Cepheus that can embody the human aspects of arrogance and denial (as presented in the story of the Royal Family), there are also stars in these constellations that are of a refined and beneficent quality. These are Caph, the palm of Queen Cassiopeia’s hand, and Alphirk, the truly wise essence of the King. Cassiopeia and Cepheus lie in the northern heavens.

Caph is the palm of Queen Cassiopeia’s hand. It expresses a gentle and tender ability to be a true guiding and stabilizing force. Caph provides an in-between or holding place, and indicates the need for arbitration, meeting, and compromise in the midst of our conflicts and struggles in life. Caph offers a truce, even honoring what appear to be irreconcilable differences. Caph provides a calming force, bringing the composure, level-headedness, and emotional balance that are required to come to this place in-between. Most always, some type of conflict is a necessary prerequisite to come to this receptive place of the Heart. Caph is sometimes indicative of a female in an authoritative position offering aid.

Conjoining Caph is Alphirk, Beta Cepheus. Alphirk brings empathetic support, a door easily opened in the physical, but only manifesting after a long and arduous journey through the initiatory fires of life. Alphirk is a demonstrable force working though the world that actually lifts us from the struggles of life, or alters conditions in a way that otherwise would be impossible through our own power alone. Alphirk is sometimes indicative of a male in an authoritative position offering aid.

Conjoining Caph, the Queen's hand, is the Quasar 3C48, just north of Aries in Triangulum. Quasars in general bring experience that is out of the ordinary, experience that does not fit into our normal reality. This oddity helps to shatter our limiting concepts of how the universe works. This specific quasar in Triangulum asks us to open to new possibilities about how our destinies can unfold, possibilities beyond a mortal’s view. Divine forces are at work guiding our lives, far more powerful than our limitations, blunders, and efforts. To believe in and see this is to find the golden triangular corridor of light that is Triangulum--the Way. Triangulum sometimes referred to as the Holy Trinity or Holy Spirit. To fly over the Kraken, Perseus sets his sight on Triangulum, to open to this Divine Force. It is only this that makes possible that which, from a mere mortal’s perspective, is only a dream. [4]

South Node 6sc07

Stars of the Cross, the Centaur, the Virgin and Bootes, the Herdsman are here. So we have people crusading for improved conditions but perhaps a bit rigid, closeminded and severe.

Eris’ Nodal Summary

Eris’ nodal axis reveals Eris’ path of action (South Node to North Node) addressing the need (especially for leaders)  to get out of a punishing severe mode and become a gentle and stabilising force.

The Nodal Summary and the Perihelion-Aphelion summary are essentially the same! It is interesting to note that currently Eris is only known  as a bringer of disruption and chaos so that a new more stable order can be born. To use Philip Sedgwick’s analogy “using chaos and disruption as a method of reorganization - i.e., dumping a closet onto the floor, then reorganizing, things that overturn, the scales of justice”.  Our analysis using the orbital parameters has provided a wider understanding of Eris’ function in our lives.

Phase 37 (Taurus 7) The Woman of Samaria at the ancestral well

The symbol refers to a most important episode of the Christ mythos. Jesus meets a Samaritan woman at an ancestral well. This woman  belongs to a tribe despised by the Jews; moreover she is unmarried and therefore on the fringe of her own society. It is to just that kind of woman that Jesus reveals that he is a Messiah: “I am He”, a revelation that he apparently will not bestow upon his own disciples, at least not in words. What does this mean? Jesus, as the Avatar incorporating the Christ impulse, came to replace the old tribal order with a new order based on Universal Love. It is not to representatives of, or even to men attached to, the old order that Jesus could reveal his spiritual, evolutionary and society transforming status; they had to reach a point where they could discover his avatarship. But to the woman of Samaria, who in her openness to love’s  urgings, had already repudiated any subservience to the old order – Jesus could reveal his function. The creative future descends first to that which has become chaos. An old order is never open to a new revelation until it has accepted disorder in the name of that power which subsumes all forms of order – Love.

We can see Eris’ role clearly in this symbol…a need for chaos before a new order …leaders who are able to create a new order and get new followers through the power of Love.
