On why there is hope for peace in Pakistan

The first formal meeting between the Pakistan government and a Taliban-nominated team has begun at an "undisclosed location", officials say. They are due to start charting a "roadmap" for peace talks to end a decade-long insurgency. The government side has entered the talks "wholeheartedly", the interior ministry tells the BBC. 6 Feb 2014

Shown here is the chart for the lunar eclipse of 19 October 2013 at Islamabad. On the Ascendant which also forms the empty leg of the T-square opposite Uranus, are the stars of Bootes, the armed herdsman sometimes depicted with a spear as well as the stars of the peace loving Virgin. In China lambda Bootes [7li] was part of Tchao-Yao, “The Brandishing of Arms” so that here there is a tussle between a desire for  domination and peace. Initially people can be drawn to conflict and military glory but as they mature they may hear the Virgin’s call and combined with an overlay of tropical Libra become peacemakers. The Virgin’s love of peace does sometimes win the battle for souls: these stars were transited  at the 1998 Belfast Irish Peace accord; at the birth of US President Jimmy Carter, architect of the 1979 Camp David Peace Accord; US President Bill Clinton, a persistent advocate for peace, Israeli PM Yitzhak Rabin and Egyptian President Anwar Sadat, both military men who became active workers for peace, both assassinated. [1]

Equally often the stars of Bootes overpower the Virgin. It is said that Justica (Virgo) flew off to heaven because she could no longer bear the depravity of mankind; so that this area is linked to fanaticism, persecutors and those suffering from persecution. These stars were transited in 1948 when Mahatma Gandhi, on his way to a prayer meeting, was assassinated by a Hindu fanatic; at the lunar eclipse of  September 1996, when the Taliban triumphantly entered Kabul and declared an Islamic state.

The two extremes of expression of stars in this area remind us that nothing is fated and that the outcome depends on the maturity of a person or a nation. However, hope stems from the Uranus-Pluto square in the T. This square can stimulate the motivation to adapt quickly to radical change and to create innovative solutions to emerge from or to rise above destructive scenarios and emotional turmoil. It may stimulate the creation of new modalities of thought motivated from structural systems and societal modalities that simply no longer work. [2]

Progressing the eclipse chart to 6 Feb 2014, the day the peace talks have begun, we see that the eclipse luminaries align with the meridian axis while Uranus-Pluto aspects the horizon. On the descendant is delta Columba, [8cn35] in the peace loving Dove’s wing. The eclipse Moon is conjunct the stars of Cepheus, the Fishes and the chained Princess Andromeda. Here the brilliance of Cepheus and sensitivity of the Fishes can work their magic to alleviate the frustrations imposed by Andromeda’s chains. The Sabian symbol for the eclipse Sun (26li) is “An eagle and a dove quickly change into each other”. Meanwhile on the progressed Ascendant the Sabian for Pluto (10cp) is “An Albatross feeding from the hand of a sailor”. A culture of harmlessness generates trust that can bring together the most disparate lives. What  perfect symbols for the dove of peace being given a chance!

The chart for Pakistan (23 Mar 1956; 7:05 am Karachi) has its Ascendant [12Aries] – Descendant [12li] axis straddled by the Uranus-Pluto square that symbolically represents a time when the nation must change.

P.S.

As we have seen before there is never just one indicator of a major event. Here we look at the 26 April 2013 lunar eclipse at Islamabad placed square the horizon axis and therefore carrying a very significant message for the place. Mars opposite Saturn easily symbolizes the violent standoff between the Taliban (Mars) and the Government (Saturn). The following excerpts from Nick Fiorenza on the stars involved give us a perfect picture of what is happening in Pakistan.

The Sun and Mars are conjunct Caph, beta Cassiopeiae

Caph, the palm of Queen Cassiopeia’s hand, holds a stern yet gentle and tender ability to be a true guiding and stabilizing force. Caph provides an in-between or holding place, and indicates the need for arbitration, meeting, and compromise in the midst of the heat of battle. A truce, honoring perhaps even un-resolvable differences, is required. Calm, composure, level-headedness, and emotional balance are required to come to this place between, and, the dramatic conflict we have been in is most always a necessary prerequisite.

Other conjoining stars are Sharatan, Mesartim and Hamal of Aries.

They support new beginnings, adventure, transmutation and great rewards; but they are of opportunities that may quickly open and close, and thus require our immediate response to grasp them without hesitation when they occur.

Echoing very much the same thing are the stars on Moon and Saturn. These are the stars of the Centaur, the Cross and the Virgin about which Diana Rosenberg says:

“Under the Virgin (“Justica”), the redemptive Centaur, and Crux, the Southern Cross, all anger, suffering and sorrow may be healed, all sins forgiven.

As expected, progressing the eclipse chart by the PSSR method brings the meridian to align with the eclipse axis on 6th Feb.
