Taurus eclipse raises male fertility concerns

Prescriptions for testosterone drugs have shot up around the world over the last decade. But there is growing concern that they are being over-used and may not be safe. There comes a point in many a man's life when he starts to feel a bit played-out. Tired. Grumpy. Apathetic. In the US, sports and news channels are replete with ads featuring handsome men with grey hair at their temples, too tired to play basketball and feeling irritable even when they're on a romantic date with a beautiful woman. BBC; April 27.

The bull was a potent symbol of power, strength, and fertility to the peoples of the ancient world. This symbolism was manifested in several iconographic motifs. These motifs reveal the bull as a manifestation of divine characteristics and as an expression of the power of man. The sign Taurus shown as a bull represents the same qualities in the zodiac. It is, therefore, not surprising that the news item on male testosterone appears around the time of a solar eclipse in Taurus.  Also notice from the eclipse chart that it sharply squares the meridian axis at London from where the news article originated.

That the eclipse could raise medical concerns about testosterone levels can be also seen from the asteroid Askalaphus.

The Askalaphus [5vi27] – Mars [11li52]  midpoint is 23vi10 making a sharp sesqui (135d)  aspect to the eclipse Sun within just 0d12m of arc.

Askalaphus: Contact with physicians; belief-systems about the health, symptoms and medical conditions.

Mars: Masculinity; independence; available energy; self-assertion and self-interests; testosterone levels etc.

In addition the eclipse [8ta52] is conjunct the asteroid Toro [9ta44]. The keywords for Toro given by Martha-Lang Wescott are given below. Notice that they are mostly connected with testosterone levels and the word “Toro” is a Spanish word for a fighting bull!

Toro: Machismo; bullying; intimidation; doing hard, physical work; strength (muscular); muscle flexing—psychologically or physically; challenging others; rough treatment; competitive; football; prizefighting; toughness.

Message of the eclipse

A solar eclipse on the South Node is essentially about ending a certain way of being that is no longer in tune with our future. If change is resisted an eclipse can become stressful or create upheaval bringing issues in the chart area that it falls to a crisis point.

With the South Node in Aries this eclipse is about ending the effects of testosterone. This can be a symbol for ending a chapter in human history connected with the human enthusiasm for war as evidenced in our collective history. With the North Node in Libra, the evolutionary intent of this eclipse lies in the general area of calming down and co-operating with others. To achieve that aim, we need to understand the insidious ways we conspire to keep situations more dramatic, intense and exhausting than they need to be. We need to stop classifying people as “friends or foes” and instead take the time to understand the complexity of human nature.
