China and Nigeria: Different strokes at Mars direct

Shanghai, China; May 21; CCTV, : Chinese President Xi Jinping has called on Asian countries to promote unity, cooperation and development of the continent. Speaking at a banquet he and his wife Peng Liyuan hosted for attendees of the fourth summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), Xi said that there are several major emerging economies in Asia. He said that the rise of Asia has become an important driving force for world economic development and for the progress of human civilization. Xi said that China’s decision to take over the CICA rotating presidency was based on a desire to safeguard peace. He added that China will host a successful summit that will make contributions to peace, stability and cooperation in Asia.

Jos, Nigeria; May 20 CNN: At least 118 people were killed Tuesday in twin blasts at a market in the central Nigerian city of Jos, an official said, warning the toll could climb. The explosions, which targeted Terminus market, went off some 20 to 30 minutes apart, setting fire to the entire venue. "The death toll stands at 118. This is the number of victims recovered from the scene of the explosions, but we are still searching through the smoldering debris for more bodies," said Mohammed Abdulsalam, coordinator for the National Emergency Management Agency in the city.

I have put up two news items  in order to be able to show in this post how  choices made with the same set of stars led to two different results – one positive  and upward on the evolutionary spiral and the other negative and downward on a devolutionary spiral.

The Last Quarter Moon phase at Shanghai carries  the station direct  Mars on the MC as part of the stressful but potentially transformative Cardinal Grand Cross. The stars that form the backdrop to Mars were in China part of Tchao-Yao, “The Brandishing of Arms” clearly linked to Bootes, the armed herdsman, often depicted with a spear rather than the shepherd’s crook.

Also here are the stars of the Virgin in tropical Libra  so that many  become peace makers. Diana Rosenberg notes that the task for those in positions of power is to turn war and hatred into peace and co-operation. The constellation Virgo  was sometimes identified with  the virgin goddesses  Astraea, or Dike (Greek mythology), and Erigone (Roman mythology). All of them represented Justice and Peace .  Notice apart from the Scales and the Sword, the right hand of Goddess is held in a sign of peace.

But equally often, the desire for domination (Bootes or Tchao-Yao) can overcome the Virgin’s desire for peace so that under the same stars we can have actions by fanatics bordering on terrorism, religious and political persecutions and acts of intolerance. 

At Jos in Nigeria, the sidereal Capricorn Ingress chart (or the annual chart) carries the same Grand Cross on the meridian axis. Here too the Mars station direct  opposite the ingress Uranus (8ar) and within just 3 degrees of the MC has activated the Cross but as we can see from the news with negative consequences.

So what really made the difference? Obviously the future is not completely fated.  The star backdrop provided conflicting energies. It is the result of free will choices that made the difference.
