Swiss voters are taking part in a referendum on
Sunday on whether to introduce what would be the highest minimum wage in the
world. If approved, employers would have to pay workers a minimum 22 Swiss
francs (about $25; £15; 18 euros) an hour. Supporters say the move is necessary
for people to live a decent life. But critics argue that it would raise
production costs and increase unemployment because young people would find it
more difficult to get work. Correspondents say that the proposal "to
protect equitable pay" is the most prominent of several referendums on
Sunday. BBC 18 May 2014.
The chart for the exact square on Sunday, May 18 at Zurich is shown here. Notice
that Venus-Jupiter is significantly placed on the angles forming a T-square
with Uranus-Pluto. On the Ascendant are the dwarf planets Ceres and Haumea along
with the asteroid Vesta. Ceres is about caring and nurturance while
Vesta is connected to work related issues.
Haumea [1]
is a newly discovered dwarf planet which
appears to motivate action to reorient the current destructive use of power and resources by
those in authority into a nurturing force that supports and protects life, home
and family for all.
This would
be sufficient to explain the astrology behind the news but as always several
factors can add further details. On May
18, we also have the Waning Gibbous Moon phase.
04:23:11 UT - Waning Gibbous
Moon - Sun (27
ta 10' 6") sesquiquadrate Moon (12 cp 10' 6")
A chart for
drawn for this phase has the Ascendant at Zurich
(7ge15) / Bern (5ge25) square Neptune
(7pi27). Neptune in Pisces is general about
compassion for those in need. But the Sabian symbols for the Ascendant (66 to
68) add a dimension that gets to the heart of the news.
PHASE 66 (GEMINI
6°):WORKMEN DRILLING FOR OIL
PHASE 68
(GEMINI 8°): AROUSED STRIKERS SURROUND A FACTORY.
Oil leads
to wealth and power but also to industrial unrest and violence. As man manages
to rape the earth in order to satisfy his greed and corner the material riches of the world conflicts and disruptive processes are
inevitably initiated. This leads to a revolt against privileges.
