Eclipse pushes for treatment of dementia

Progress on new research and treatments for dementia has been "achingly slow", an expert has said.Dr Dennis Gillings, the recently appointed global dementia envoy, said the pledge by G8 countries to develop a cure or treatment by 2025 was "impossible" without better incentives for investment. Six months since the UK hosted a G8 summit on dementia, the prime minister is speaking at a follow-up event in central London where he will commit to accelerating progress on dementia drugs. BBC; June 19, 2014 [1]

Dementia is a gradual decline of how the brain functions. It is incurable, and slowly interferes with a person's ability to carry out the normal tasks of daily living. Dementia can also trigger other mental health problems such as personality changes, anxiety, mood swings and depression. In more advanced dementia, the person may lose the ability to get up and move, or the interest to eat or drink.

We will see here how this news can be understood through the lens of the chart for the eclipse of April 29, 2014  at London.

Here we find Uranus  [13ar58] conjunt the stars Zeta Cephei [14ar10], in the King’s head and Alpheratz [14ar31], alpha Andromeda, in Princess’ head. Any reference to the head has by association links to mental health.

The eclipse [8ta52]  was square the MC and  placed in the 12th house which rules asylums and therefore by association with concerns for mental health. It  is also conjunct a retrograde Mercury – another connection to issues of  the mind. A reference  about Mercury in the 12th house  tells us how it functions.

It is often a good placement for helping others to communicate, get their point across, or simply to listen. The person understands about being overwhelmed by an emotional force so large that it engulfs the ability to speak what they are feeling and these people can aid others across the choppy waters towards a clearer understanding [2].

Writing about stars in close conjunction to Mercury [12ta31], Diana Rosenberg states:

Here the ravening Sea-Monster (representing the monsters of the sub conscious mind) is slain by gallant Perseus, the Hero and Rescuer, enabling Andromeda to free herself from her chains.

This extract tells us that this area is also about helping those suffering from mental illness.  If we progress the eclipse chart by the PSSR method to June 18, the date of the news item, we find the Grand Cross straddling the meridian axis. The challenge of the Jupiter-Pluto opposition in the Cross is described thus by Sherene Vismaya [3]:

Jupiter is one of the most generous planets when it comes to expansion, luck and wisdom. While in the sign of Cancer, this “great benefic” brings great abundance in nurturing, feeling and connecting us to our roots. Pluto in Capricorn continues to ask us to gut out whatever is faulty, decrepit or in need of major transformation at the base level of our infrastructures. Now that these two planets are forming an exact opposition, we can bring the revamping energy of Pluto into our lives. Cancer traditionally rules mother and feminine energy where Capricorn tends to apply to father figures and worldly, patriarchal structures. We may find ourselves clinging to one side of the spectrum now and battling against the other.

The obvious implication, when we read between the lines, is that we need to do more to nurture patients through  revamping   our health care infrastructure thus  reflecting the essence of the news item.

The news also mentions that Dr. Dennis Gillings said that the pledge by G8 countries to develop a cure or treatment by 2025 was "impossible" without better incentives for investment. This imoprtant detail can also be seen in progressed chart. How is that? Well notice  that the progressed Ascendant [6le06] forms a quincunx  to Neptune [7pi08] which is in an area that is part of the Indian lunar mansion Satabhisaj “Requiring a Hundred Physicians” reflecting the enormity of the task!
