Japan kills whales in first post-ICJ hunt

TOKYO: Japan has slaughtered 30 minke whales off its northeast coast, in the first hunt since the UN's top court ordered Tokyo to stop killing the animals in the Antarctic, the government said. The Japanese whaling fleet that left the northeastern fishing town of Ayukawa in April completed its mission last week, the Fisheries Agency said. June 16 http://bit.ly/1qaWu2g

The chart for the Waning Gibbous or Disseminating Moon of June 16 at Tokyo is shown here. Note the T-square of Mars-Uranus-Pluto on the meridian axis.

On the MC with Mars are stars of the Virgin. Diana Rosenberg mentions that the Virgin was a pacifist and under this constellation she includes the issue of cruelty vs kindness to animals [1]. The following passage from Aratus bears this out.

Beneath both feet of Bootes mark the Maiden who in her hands bears the gleaming Ear of Corn (Spica). Her men called Justice (Dike); but she assembling the elders, it might be in the market-place or in the wide-wayed streets, uttered her voice, ever urging on them judgments kinder to the people. Not yet in that age had men knowledge of hateful strife, or carping contention, or din of battle, but a simple life they lived.

But when she had filled the great heights with gathering crowds, then would she with threats rebuke their evil ways, and declare that never more at their prayer would she reveal her face to man. "Behold what manner of race the fathers of the Golden Age left behind them! Far meaner than themselves! but ye will breed a viler progeny! [the Iron Age?]. Verily wars and cruel bloodshed shall be unto men and grievous woe shall be laid upon them." Even so she spake and sought the hills and left the people all gazing towards her still. But when they, too, were dead, and when, more ruinous than they which went before, the Race of Bronze was born, who were the first to forge the sword of the highwayman, and the first to eat of the flesh of the ploughing-ox, then verily did Justice loathe that race of men and fly heavenward and took up that abode, where even now in the night time the Maiden is seen of men, established near to far-seen Bootes. [Aratus, Phaenomena, 3rd century B.C., p.237-239]

On the IC is Uranus which is square Pluto

Pluto in Capricorn represents the traditional pecking order in society, where authorities at the top of the social hierarchies give orders that are to be obeyed by all those below. While Uranus in Aries is a potent symbol for individual freedom.  One of the  driving motives of this combination is straightforward personal desire (“I want this, and I don’t care what others want”). Another motive is more complex: the intention to go against the tide of conformity, to be a thorn in the side of standard social expectations (“I want this, at least in part because others don’t want it, and I intend to show the world that I can’t be controlled by society”) [2]

Here Uranus in Aries obviously represents the Japanese government while Pluto in Capricorn is the UN’s top court.

That the issue of being kind to animals could specifically be referring to creatures of the sea can also be seen in this map. The Moon [10aq11] is conjunct sigma 2665 Delphini [11aq29] in the constellation of Delphinus, the Dolphin. And the IC [14ar31] is conjunct 46,37 Ceti [14ar10,14ar17] in the lower belly and the tail of Cetus, the sea-monster!
