April Eclipse brings change in Iraq

With divisive Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki finally stepping down, Iraq looks to a new leader. But can he knit his country back together? Few in Iraq this morning were mourning the loss of Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, who stepped down Thursday night after months of domestic and international pressure. Once again we will see how an eclipse that is several months old can affect events now. Shown here is the Solar Eclipse of April 29 2014 at Baghdad. Notice that it is powerful for the place since it places the Mars-Jupiter-Uranus-Pluto Grand Cross on the horizon axis. In addition the eclipse throws a quincunx aspect to the Mars leg of the Cross. Given below is an  extract about the eclipse from Nick Fiorenza [1].

The April New Moon Eclipse conjoins Hamal of Aries; Schedar and Achird of northern Cassiopeia. Hamal, Alpha Aries, is the butting head of the Ram, and also the shepherd teaching us how to lead. Hamal reveals that the struggles we face in the physical world are due to attempts to forcefully direct our lives or those of others. Such attempts are generally based upon a separatist, judgmental, and righteous me-against-them attitude, which often leads us deeper into the initiatory fires of life in which we may already find ourselves.

Schedar, Alpha Cassiopeia, the head of the Queen, tightly conjoining Hamal, impels somewhat of a prideful and arrogant tone, often a head-trip of being lost in the glitter of power upon the human stage. Immature challenge and boast can express here with ramifications only accentuating the drama of the tightening jaws of fear-based collective consciousness (Cetus) and the butting response provided by the head of the Ram. Hamal and Schedar can express as power struggles amongst leaders or those who are headstrong, with lessons about how arrogance creates struggle in the material world; and how compassion opens the way through.

Solar eclipses offer opportunity to redefine concepts of self and the roles we play in the world, or how we articulate ourselves in life. They are about shifting octaves in the nature of our self-perception and self-expression, and addressing issues that keep us from doing so. They can invite a new beginning, way of life, or new way of participating in life.

Diana Rosenberg [2] adds:

Hamal has been linked to the ability to rise to influential positions, but with the danger of disgrace or ruin, usually caused by impatience, lack of diplomacy and an inability or unwillingness to refine their attitudes and actions.

(Note: Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki born June 20, 1950 has his radix Sun parallel to the star Hamal).

Progressing the eclipse chart to August 15, the date of the news item, brings the horizon axis once again in alignment with the Grand Cross thereby triggering the PM’s resignation. Remember the principle of Uranus-Pluto square in the Grand Cross as given by Ebertin [3] is :

The process of transformation (the collapse of the old order of things, the construction of the new).
