Oscar Pistorius trial

South African athlete Oscar Pistorius has arrived at his trial, as Judge Thokosile Masipa prepares her verdict. The Olympic double-amputee sprinter faces 25 years in jail if found guilty of premeditated murder. He denies intentionally killing his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine's Day last year, saying he thought there was an intruder. The judge could also find him guilty of culpable homicide, or manslaughter, for which he would face a long jail term. BBC; Sept. 11

Oscar Pistorius was born November 22, 1986; 10:30 am [EET]; Pretoria  A Rodden rating of ‘A’ for this data makes it a delight for astrologers since all manner of progressions and transits can be accurately timed.

The most important  direction is Pistorius’ solar arc Ascendant [10pi] square his radix Saturn [10sa45]. On the date of the incident, transit Mars [10pi] was triggering this square. We note that Saturn is conjunct the star Antares [9sa54].

Antares, the fiery red heart of the sky Scorpion stands for an anguished, often broken heart…these people can be tough, energetic, impulsive, obstinate and dominant. Their lives may be marred by quarrels, with colleagues, friends and relatives who do not understand them. Domestic life may be unhappy. Among other things Diana Rosenberg associates this star with “sexual addiction, stress and danger of murder”. Watters adds that when Antares is directed to an angle there is severe stress. [2]

Robson’s delineation for Saturn conjunct Antares:

With Saturn: Materialistic, dishonest through circumstances created by environment, many disappointments, loss through quarrels and legal affairs, [Robson*, p.138.]

If the Ascendant solar direction to Saturn can be looked upon as “hour hand” of the clock, the “minute hand”  can be transits, diurnals, solar return progressions or lunations.

Pistorius’ precessed solar return chart progressed to September 12, the expected date of the verdict, has the Venus-Pluto-Uranus-Kronos-Hades-Zeus Grand Cross  lined up with the meridian axis.

Venus-Pluto: Radical events in a love relationship brought about obsessive control and domination needs.

Kronos-Pluto: to see that prominent persons are under substantial pressure

Kronos-Hades: To see links between “fame” and “shame”; to be aware of  laws that relate to criminals or criminal procedures.

Pluto-Uranus: Pluto in Capricorn square Uranus in Aries. The power of the collective to force conformity against “outlaws” who harm society by preventing wilful, insensitive or even sociopathic depredation by individuals whose actions harm everyone’s safety and well being.

His diurnal Ascendant (12 Sept. 2014; 10:30 EET) is [9sa23] conjunct his radix Saturn [10sa].

So is Pistorius’ going to get a negative verdict? Impossible to say. We do know that at least on a few counts he will be found guilty, but astrologically speaking there are a few factors that suggest that the verdict may not be all that harsh. In his natal chart, radix Saturn [10sa] is square Jupiter [13pi] highlighted by the current Full Moon [16pi] of September 9. Using Ptolemy’s Essential Dignities Jupiter and Saturn get +8 and +5 points which basically means as per medieval astrology both are strong or dignified [3].
