The German invasion of Poland ,
which marks the beginning of World War 2 began on 1 September 1939 at 04:40, when the Luftwaffe attacked the Polish
town of WieluĊ ,
destroying 75% of the city and killing close to 1,200 people, most of them
civilians.
In his
essay on Saturn-Pluto in The Mountain Astrologer, Robert Hand
wrote[1]:
Saturn-Pluto combination represents crises that
come about as the normal, lawful, and predictable manifestations of Saturn are
challenged by the need for deep and fundamental changes in the system, which
are indicated by Pluto.
Saturn Square Pluto (1 pass): March 26, 1940. This
square occurred just after the beginning of World War II in Europe .
However, right before September 1939, when the War actually began, Saturn
came within a few minutes of arc to the square before turning retrograde, and
Mars made a triple pass in opposition to Pluto and square to Saturn, during the
same period.
However,
major events are almost always indicated by eclipses and the start of World War
2 is no exception. The chart for the solar eclipse of April 19, 1939 at Warsaw , Poland
is shown here. The eclipse [28ar] is square
Pluto [29cn] on the MC while conjoining Saturn [22ar] on the descendant [18]. Mars [15cp] is square
the descendant so that Mars-Saturn-Pluto are all brought
together by the eclipse and the angles of the chart for Warsaw .
But whether or not an eclipse affects an event can
be easily seen when we progress the chart to the date of the event. Shown here
is the April 19, 1939 solar eclipse chart progressed to September 1, 1939 – the
date of the start of the war. Notice that the progressed Ascendant conjoins the
Sun and Saturn and squares Pluto, thereby triggering the event exactly as
expected.
If the
eclipse was the “hour hand” of the clock, the “minute” hand was the Disseminating
Moon phase that took place on September
3, 1939. The Moon [24ar] was conjunct Saturn [0ta] and together these were
square Pluto [2le] and Mars [24cp] on the horizon axis – in other words the
same configuration that was highlighted by the eclipse!
