Scotland votes 'no' to independence

Glasgow, Scotland (CNN) -- Scotland will remain part of the United Kingdom -- along with England, Wales and Northern Ireland -- following a historic referendum vote.
A majority of voters rejected the possibility of Scotland breaking away and becoming an independent nation. UK Prime Minister David Cameron welcomed Scotland's decision in a televised statement outside 10 Downing Street, saying it was a clear result. Sept 19

In a previous post [1] on the Scottish Referendum we looked at the progressions and transits in the chart of  Scotland’s Union with the UK. As can be seen from today’s result no prediction is ever possible because as Alan Leo once said “the stars incline they do not compel”. In other words, the stars create a situation but the final outcome depends on our free-will. Let us go back to the defining configuration of our current period, the Uranus/Pluto square from Aries to Capricorn which appears in charts mentioned in [1]. This square challenges us to free ourselves (Aries-Uranus)  from controlling authority figures (Capricorn-Pluto). But sometimes we are not ready to make this change. Remaining in the parental home does have some advantages or at least we perceive it that way.

The lunar return chart presented in [1] is reproduced here. The Uranus-Pluto square is prominently aligned with the meridian. With Uranus [15ar] is the asteroid Astraea [8ar] while asteroid Persephone [2aq] and Psyche [8aq] are on the  descendant. Martha-Wescott gives us the following delineations:

ASTRAEA: Blocked closure; an inability to let go of things, people or events. [2]
PERSEPHONE: Separation anxiety; leaving; going away; what you believe will happen if mother's not there to take care of you. [2]

Astraea-Persephone
From the actual cutting of the umbilical cord, to heading off to first  grade (or college,) or leaving home to take a job or get their own  apartment, these models or scripts of "facing it alone" have caused a  person to have trepidations--to feel that something terrible will  happen.  They have problems "ending one thing" to start another; they  still haven't gotten over the loss of some prior umbilical cord....

On the Ascendant [6le] is the  beehive cluster Praesepe. Writing about this cluster Nick Fiorenza says:

Praesepe is of new beginnings, migration, shedding old skins, skeletons, and cocoons. It is of emerging out of the frenetic confusion of mass consciousness; finding our new path and direction; leaving behind old dwellings and the structures of consciousness they represent; and getting out of our personal or collective dogma and the darkness it creates. Alignments with Praesepe may indicate a new dwelling place is at hand or that one is in order to find. As with the migration of bees from an old hive, before identifying their new direction, there can be frenetic confusion at first, a scattered sense and lack of direction before moving toward their new home. This is temporary and is part of intuiting the feeling for the right direction, much like turning in a complete circle to identify the way that feels right. Praesepe asks us to trust in our magnetic sense, on our inner compass, and to hone in on our new direction while honoring the inherent confusion of the emergence process.

I leave readers to judge whether in a cosmic or spiritual sense Scotland’s choice to remain with the Union is a progressive or regressive step.
