Swing takes over the Emerald Isle

We pushed through The Oval’s doors, lifted aside a velvet curtain – and immediately smelled whiskey. Candles illuminated the back bar and dozens of bottles glinted in the dim light. Six musicians squeezed into a large corner booth at the entrance, their instruments close by and pints even closer. But no fiddles or flutes were in sight – this was no ordinary night of traditional Irish music. The group burst into the 1928 jazz standard, Digga Digga Doo, a banjo, bassoon, trumpet and trombone playing alongside a tuba. A brunette with two braids sang, her voice a throaty, sexy sandpaper. My partner used the narrow space between the barroom and the next room to toss me into a swing out, the basic step of lindy hop. No Irish jigs could be seen. To understand the astrology behind this news we will look at the chart for the Waning Gibbous Moon of Oct. 11 at Cork, Ireland. This example will also serve to  introduce the centaur Cyllarus. Here Cyllarus [16cn] is on the Ascendant [15cn]  which is the empty leg of the Venus-Sun-Uranus-Pluto T-square.

One method that astrologers use to understand newly discovered bodies is by combining the influence of stars that form the backdrop to the Node and Perhelion.

The North Node of Cyllarus [21ta57] is conjunct the stars omicron Tauri of the Bull, and 65 Andromedae in the Chained Woman’s right foot. The sensuality of Taurus favours acting and dancing. It is part of the Vedic lunar mansion  Krittika whose “major lesson is  finding pleasurable activities that are truly healing and revitalizing. [1]”.

The perihelion of Cyllarus [24pi] is conjunct Markab, alpha Pegasi[24pi] -  the saddle or the physical vehicle upon which soul rides or expresses through to accomplish its Earthian mission. Markab [2]  brings to the forefront issues about our bodies and physical health. Sports (especially skating), music, dance and choreography are favoured since this is the Vedic mansion of “happy feet” and the area of Pegaus’ prancing  legs! [3]

Philip Sedgwick in his “The Soul of the Sky” confirms this analysis.

Cyllarus epitomizes the sensuality known to be a desired part of the centaurian lifestyle. With the combination of a directing, soothing node in Taurus and the sensitivity seeking Piscean perihelion, the essence of gentle, tactile involvement in life comes about. The essence here promotes physical healing within the concept of creating positive, physical feelings of wellness.

So if this is what the Centaur Cyllarus is about, we would expect the T-square containing Venus-Uranus-Pluto to awaken our sensuality. Also the asteroid Eros [11cp]  on the descendant completes our understanding of the message contained in the Gibbous Moon.
