Almost 36m people live in modern slavery

Forced to pick cotton, grow cannabis, prostitute themselves, fight wars or clean up after the wealthy -- some 35.8 million people are currently trapped in modern-day slavery, a new report said Monday.  The 2014 Global Slavery Index (GSI), in its second annual report, said new methods showed some 20 percent more people were enslaved across the world than originally thought. "There is an assumption that slavery is an issue from a bygone era. Or that it only exists in countries ravaged by war and poverty," said Andrew Forrest, chairman of the Australian-based Walk Free Foundation which produced the report. Nov.17 [1]

To understand the astrology behind this news we will look at the chart for the Lunar Eclipse of April 15, 2014 drawn for Perth, Western Australia where  Walk Free Foundation is headquartered.

The  Full Moon [25li] makes a sesquisquare aspect to the Venus-Neptune conjunction placed on the descendant. Neptune [6pi] is conjunct alpha (α) Piscis Austrinus, Fomalhaut, [4pi]  a reddish star in the mouth of the Southern Fish, Piscis Austrinus  while Venus [10pi] is conjunct stars in the Water-pourer’s urn. The Southern Fish is usually depicted on star maps at the feet of Aquarius, where it swallows up the water poured from his urn. Symbolically, the combination is  referring to taking care of  the needy.

The eclipse Sun [25ar] is conjunct 22 Andromedae [24ar37] a star in the chained right hand of the woman – a perfect symbol for slavery. The Full Moon [25li]  is conjunct the stars Spica, alpha Virgo , the Virgin and Arcturus, alpha Bootis, the herdsman or shepherd. To the Arabs he was Al Haris al Soma, Protector of Heaven  and Al Haris al Samak, Protector of the Defenceless One.

In addition, the Moon [25li] is conjunct the asteroid Ceres [25li] and the dwarf planet Haumea [20li].  Haumea appears to motivate action to reorient the current  destructive use of power and resources by those in authority into a nurturing force that supports and protects life, home and family for all [2].

Progressing the eclipse chart to Nov.17, the day the GSI report was released, brings the Venus-Neptune conjunction to the MC triggering the event.
