How dangerous is sea swimming in cold weather?

Brighton's historic Christmas Day swim has been cancelled for safety reasons. How dangerous is sea swimming in cold weather? On Christmas Day 1885 a few hardy souls hobbled across Brighton's pebbly beach and into the chilly English Channel. That first Brighton Christmas Day swim has become a much-copied ritual around the world. But this year it's been called off. And it seems unlikely the event, which has always been run by the Brighton Swimming Club, will ever be coming back. Brighton & Hove City Council - supported by the swimming club - says it's become too dangerous. It will close off the beach around the Palace Pier to dissuade people from entering the water on Christmas Day. BBC; Dec 14 http://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-30415315

This news can serve as a good example of how lunar phases can provide significant insight into events. Shown here is the chart for the  last quarter moon of Dec. 14 at Brighton. Notice that it is placed in the  6th house – a house concerned with public health issues. The Moon [22vi] is at the beginning of sidereal Virgo. Here the wise Virgin begins her dominion over the Lion’s rash pride. In addition, the Sun [22sa] is conjunct stars of  the strongman and risk taker Hercules so that we have issues of pride and risk taking (Lion and Hercules) versus cool, calm and wise objectivity (Virgin).

Notice also that there are two Grand Cross configurations anchored to each other and the angles. The first one comprises Uranus-Pluto-Venus-Kronos-Hades-Zeus placed on the angles. The second is Neptune-Saturn-Admetus-Jupiter connected through hard aspects to the angles and the first cross. Very loosely we can see a build up of some images here. Neptune is the sea or water, Admetus is literal or figurative cold while Saturn is both tradition as well as authority figures. So one way that these entities can combine is authority figures putting a restriction on venturing into the cold sea.

And finally we look at Mars [7aq24] making very sharp hard aspects to both the Sun and the Moon. Here Mars is exactly opposite the star cluster Praesaepe [7le33] and square the star Hamal [7ta53]. Hamal, alpha Aries  refers to people who “test the edges” in the desire for great achievements. Praesepe, M44 Cancer is a nebulous cluster in the constellation of the Crab – a creature that lives on the shoreline so that Diana Rosenberg links this area, among other things,  to events that occur on the shoreline. “Hobbling across Brighton's pebbly beach and into the chilly English Channel” would fit in well here!
