Why do Americans love ancient grains?

Ceres – Goddess of Grain

Would you like to taste the health-giving grain found in the tomb of King Tutankhamun?  Or feast on the unprocessed kernels said to have been stored on the ark by Noah? Or how about a vodka made from traditionally farmed Bolivian quinoa? If any of this whets your appetite, you are not alone. In the past five years there has been an explosion in popularity of so-called "ancient grains" in the American food market. "It's been a positive perfect storm for these ancient grains," says Cynthia Harriman, director of food and nutritional strategies at the non-profit organisation, the Whole Grain Council. The cardinal ingresses of the Sun have a traditional reputation as  important mundane events.  Among these the Capricorn ingress is the “master chart” of the year (Capsolar) followed in importance by  the Cancer ingress. Shown here is the Cancer Ingress at Washington. Notice that a powerful Grand Cross containing the Uranus-Pluto square along with the TNP Hades and the asteroid Ceres straddles the horizon axis.

Uranus is the planet of upheaval, insight, and sudden change while Pluto is a planet that rules processes of deep corruption-correction, the change from one state to another, and the drawing up of underlying realities to surface consciousness in order to fuel metamorphosis and transformation.

With Ceres so strongly colouring the Uranus-Pluto square at this time, food and agriculture issues are areas where people are necessarily being shaken out of ignorance and compliance to accepted norms.

Ceres [19li] is conjunct the star theta Virgo [19li]. The astrological influences of the constellation  Virgo as given by Manilius:

"spicifera est Virgo Cereris"  —  "The Virgin with her sheaf belongs to Ceres". [Astronomica, Manilius, 1st century AD, p.117]

Also in the Grand Cross is the TNP Hades. Key phrases for Ceres and Hades as given by Martha Wescott are as under so that it easy to see why the combination can refer to ancient grains!

CERES: The need for nurturing; food; the relationship between mother & child; issues of "taking care of" people, plants and animals; growths/cysts; herbs and grains.

HADES: Disgust/distaste; debilitation or deterioration; interest in the past (inc. past lives)-thus history and primitive origins; handling highly detailed work, chores or drudgery; messy situations; depressing emotions; research; investigation into the root cause of problems.

Progressing the Cancer Ingress chart aligns the Grand Cross once again with the horizon triggering the event in the news  and bringing to our consciousness the issues mentioned above.
