Remembering Auschwitz

Perseus
the Champion, the Rescuer

Auschwitz concentration camp (was a network of German Nazi concentration camps and extermination camps built and operated by the Third Reich in Polish areas annexed by Nazi Germany during World War II.  At least 1.1 million prisoners died at Auschwitz, around 90 percent of them Jewish; approximately 1 in 6 Jews killed in the Holocaust died at the camp. Many of those not killed in the gas chambers died of starvation, forced labor, infectious diseases, individual executions, and medical experiments. As Soviet troops approached Auschwitz in January 1945, most of its population was evacuated and sent on a death march. The prisoners remaining at the camp were liberated on January 27, 1945, a day now commemorated as International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

As the world gets ready to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, it may be a good time to look at the cosmic energies that were operating on January 27, 1945. The liberation took place on the eve of the Full Moon of January 28, 1945, a chart for which is shown here. Notice that the Full Moon is conjunct Pluto and place very prominently on the horizon axis.

The Moon conjoins Praesepe of Cancer; stars of the Hydra and Gianfar of Draco. Cancer, commonly the crab today, is also the Egyptian Scarabaeus, an image that articulates the theme of humanity's emergence from darkness, and its reawakening back to light. The Scarab is a symbol of regeneration, transformation and re-birth. Conjoining Hydra's head is northern Gianfar. Gianfar, the poisoned place, is of neurological currents, specifically those emanating from "poisons of the heart" that can keep us trapped battering of our courage, optimism, and strength—destroying us through sheer exhaustion. Sidereal Cancer imparts a nurturing, protective and cultivating quality, ultimately to support this emergence from the tentacles of the poison Hydra. [1]

The Sun and Moon aspect Venus and Pluto. Venus is conjunct the star Matar, Eta Pegasus, from Al Sa‘d al Matar—the Fortunate Rain. Matar lies just across the cusp into sidereal Pisces. Matar is a fortuitous star of Pegasus—perhaps offering a release from psychic-emotional tension to go forth--and perhaps offering a refreshing spring shower or two [2]. Pluto is often referred to as the lord of death and regeneration. Here in its conjunction to the Full Moon, it lives out its potential as a bestower  of  new life.

In addition, on the IC [8ge] of the chart are the stars upsilon and lambda Perseus in the constellation of Perseus – the great Rescuer! [3]
