Perseus
rescuing Andromeda
When Alexis Tsipras visits Vladimir Putin’s Kremlin
on Wednesday (April 8) there is a chance the Greek premier’s eastern manoeuvre
will immediately bear fruit: kiwis, peaches and strawberries to be precise.
Athens is hopeful that Moscow will lift a
retaliatory ban on Greek soft fruits to demonstrate the abiding strength of
Russo-Greek relations, just as both leaders feel a diplomatic chill with Europe
over the Ukraine crisis and Athens’ bailout saga respectively. But what worries European diplomats is that the
Putin-Tsipras gladhanding amounts to something more significant than fruit
trade. The big fear, in the words of one suspicious senior official, is a
“Trojan horse” plot, where Russia extends billions in rescue loans in exchange
for a Greek veto on sanctions — a move that would kill western unity over
Ukraine. April 6 http://on.ft.com/1c3F6KR
Shown here is
the chart for Mercury conjunct Uranus [April 8; UT 12:20] drawn for Moscow. On
the MC [1ge] is the star Mirfak, alpha Perseus [2ge]. In Greek legend, Perseus
is the Hero who rescues Princess Andromeda who was about to devoured by the Sea
Monster Cetus. (Does this theme sound relevant in the context of the news? Is
Putin going to rescue Greece from the EU Sea Monster?) On the descendant is
Neptune [8pi] conjunct stars in the urn of the humanitarian Water Bearer
pouring his water for the thirsty.
On the IC
with Moon and Saturn is Yed Prior, delta Ophiuchi. Here the left hand of the shaman-healer Ophiuchus
grasps the Serpent (a symbol of possible “death” but also of regeneration),
offering hope of renewal, healing and reconciliations.
Finally on
the Ascendant are the stars Thuban [7vi], alpha Draco and Alioth [9vi], epsilon
Ursae Majoris. Alioth of Ursa Major is the star of personal will. Alignments
with Alioth teach us that our personal actions can alter the evolutionary
currents that create our souls' evolutionary destiny [1]. Alioth stimulates the
use of personal will and our need to initiate personal action that helps to
take us away from those who would control our lives embodied by Thuban of Draco
[7vi].
About Thuban,
Nick Fiorenza writes [2]:
Thuban
of Draco, in the far northern heavens, just north of Alioth, was Earth’s pole
star circa 2600 BC, near the “tear of the Bear,” a point in Earth’s
~25,000-year “evolutionary cycle of the soul” at which time a turning and
fractioning occurred in the hierarchical powers governing Earth. This
dramatized the separation between those choosing to fight for a greater
evolutionary vision and those wanting to maintain totalitarian control of the
Earth.
As always,
Sabian symbols can be extremely revealing. Here the Sabian for the Moon [3sa48]
is:
Phase 244
(Sagittarius 4): A little child learning to walk with the encouragement of his
parents.
At an early stage
of development, every living organism must make an attempt to overcome the
power of gravitation, or rather to learn to use it in order to fulfill the
purpose of its life. This implies passing through a critical state of growth.
In such a crisis the individual is not left alone. Some evolved Power watches,
encourages and gives examples to be followed. This symbol presents a picture of
the conditions under which a resolution of conflict can be ensured.
