Full Moon exposes Shanghai’s problems

Shanghai, one of China’s most popular cities for expatriates and international businesses, had a decline in the number of foreign residents in the first quarter of the year, the Shanghai Daily reported last Thursday, citing unnamed officials. The number of foreigners – including residents from Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau – fell 2% from a year earlier to 255,000, the newspaper said.  Some 170,000 were non-Chinese that make up 25% of the total number of foreigners in China, the Shanghai Daily reported. The decline comes at a time of worries among international companies about China’s investment climate. The city is also battling unhealthy levels of air pollution that hurts its appeal as a place to live.  May 3; Forbes http://onforb.es/1GKIzFK

A chart for the Full Moon of May 4 at Shanghai is shown here. The luminaries align with the meridian and are square Jupiter on the Ascendant. On the Ascendant are the stars Dubhe, alpha Ursa Majoris and Kochab, beta Ursae Minoris of the Great Bear and her Little Cub.  The Great Bear is a protective mother and among other things, Diana Rosenberg links this area to issues relating to the destruction or protection of children, animals and the environment.

On the MC, the Sun[13ta] is conjunct Menkar, alpha Cetus [14ta] in the Sea-Monster’s jaw.

Cetus is the fear-instilling techno-bureaucratic monster of collective human consciousness. The body of Cetus lies submerged in sidereal Pisces, but its neck and head reach up upon the shores of Aries, with its head lying in mid-sidereal Aries and conjoining the feet of Andromeda. The head of Cetus articulates the intelligence of Cetus and it is marked by two primary stars, Kaffaljidhma, the brain of Cetus, and Menkar, the jaws of Cetus. Who is it that creates this central intelligencia? Many would like to blame the monster on every thing and every one outside of self, a victim mentality perpetuating our human condition and the entrapments we find ourselves in. However, the key phrase here is “human consciousness.” This implies each of us is responsible for the collective consciousness we find ourselves in--the reality of our personal lives and that of our world we uphold by consensus.[1]

In the present context, Cetus refers to  our enslavement to the techno-bureaucratic monster of industrialization while the stars on the Ascendant are referring to the need to protect the environment. The Ascendant along with Jupiter is quincunx Pluto in the 6th house. Jupiter-Pluto are in aspect to both the luminaries. Jupiter-Pluto is a combination that is associated with going overboard.  Under the corrective quincunx we are asked to eliminate the errors of the misplaced exuberance or suffer the consequence. In the 6th house of Pluto indicates that the price of over industrialization is issues connected with public health.

In his account on the current lunar cycle which started with the New Moon [28ar] of April 18 in Aries, Nick Fiorenza writes:

Our Full Moon brings our Aries lunar theme to its culmination. It brings realization that our aspirations to become more or to achieve more is to create greater equipoise in our lives, and to achieve freedom from our past patterns of entrapment or less than ideal modalities of living. It impels us to return to a purer level of intent of purpose before becoming lost in the diversions and aberrations common to our modern day world.

The Full Moon [13sc] is conjunct mu, phi and chi Centauri in the Centaur’s chest and tau Serpentis in the Serpent’s head. If we remember that the Serpent is associated with poison we begin to understand why Diana Rosenberg links this area with “lung ailments…and danger from contaminated air, fog and smog”.

Putting the pieces together we begin to understand the star energies behind the news.
