Full Moon highlights the plight of Washington’s poorest infants

The Children of Niobe By Nicolas de Platte-Montagne

Washington, D.C., is one of the worst places in America to be a mother, and it has the highest infant mortality rate of any capital city in the developed world, according to new study. Disturbing data about persistent health care gaps in the United States are detailed in State of the World’s Mothers 2015: An Urban Disadvantage, a new report from humanitarian relief organization, Save the Children. The report, which looks at the situation for maternal and infant health across 179 countries and focuses on the urban poor, found that mothers in the U.S. are more likely to die than those in other high-income countries. A chart for the Full Moon of May 3 drawn for Washington DC  is shown here. It is significant for the place since the luminaries aspect the angles.  Notice that the Sun in 5th house that is linked to pro-creativity and children is square Jupiter [13le] in the 8th connected with mortality and is also conjunct he stars Dubhe, alpha Ursa Majoris and Kochab, beta Ursae Minoris of the Great Bear and her Little Cub.  The Great Bear is a protective mother and among other things, Diana Rosenberg links this area to issues relating to the destruction or protection of children.

In addition, Jupiter is conjunct the asteroids  Demeter and Niobe.  Martha Wescott provides the following delineations for the two asteroids:

Demeter: Mothers and mother-child issues.

Niobe: The Greek Niobe boastfully compared her children to those of the immortal, Leto, and for this hubris suffered the punishment of having her children slain by Artemis. The asteroid Niobe stands for the perils of an investment in one’s children or procreative ability. It can show loss of children and long-term grief.
