The Virgin and the Crow
The demise of big city print media, displayed in
full by the painfully slow sale of the mammoth New York Daily News, is going
nationwide as ad sales decline 50 percent and circulation plummets, according
to a new Pew Research Center analysis. According to their report, "The
Declining Value Of U.S. Newspapers," just three different media companies
in 2014 alone decided to dump more than 100 newspaper properties. Pew said the
companies spun off the money-losing properties "in large part to protect
their still-robust broadcast or digital divisions." May 24 http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/pew-companies-dumping-newspapers-50-ad-decline-circulation-plummeting/article/2564995
This blogpost will serve as an example of how an eclipse can create events long after it has gone.
Shown here is the chart for the lunar eclipse of October 8, 2014 drawn for New
York. Notice that it is extremely significant
for the place since it carries a
powerful T-square on the angles. Uranus-Pluto in the T-square is about the
collapse of an old order. On the Ascendant [12li] with the Sun[15li] are the
stars of Corvus, the Hydra and the Virgin.
Corvus is the Latin name for both the raven
and the crow and these two birds are usually paired together in mythology. From
the same family, their obvious intelligence and ingenuity, as well as their
distinctive caw, has given them a widespread association with trickery,
storytelling, the relaying of messages, and the serving of self-interest. But
the colour of their plumage has also drawn a universal connection with
malevolence, sinister forces, and ominous warnings. The stars of Corvus share
this reputation and the classical myths that relate to the constellation speak
of mistrust, shameful motives, insincerity, glorification in the misfortune of
others, and the bearing of bad news [1].
The Crow
is a talking bird, and these are people in love with gossip, tidings,
what’s happening, what’s new, what’s up – many journalists, newsmen and media
people are born under these stars. The worst of them become greedy, scavenging
and exploiting opportunists. But also
here are the stars of the Virgin which longs for “truth” and “purity”. Few other skyscapes are so polarized between
light and dark, clear air and suffocating darkness, with a tremendous conflict
between the Virgin’s honest, upright will-to-do good and the Hydra’s dark lair of
greed and arrogant self-interest [2].
It is easy to
see from the foregoing that the Uranus-Pluto square in the eclipse chart is the
reason behind the demise of the print media mentioned in the news. The transit
of Pluto [15cp12] square the eclipse Sun [15li06] within just 6 arcminutes serves
as the immediate trigger!
