Greek prime minister Alexis Tsipras turned to
Russia for support yesterday – as he attacked Western creditors for trying to
impose ‘absurd’ austerity conditions on his crippled nation. In an emotional
address to the Greek parliament last night, the hard-Left leader said he would
never accept conditions proposed by the EU and International Monetary Fund,
which include a big hike in VAT and cuts to the pensions of the poor. ‘The
proposals submitted by lenders are unrealistic. The Greek government cannot consent
to absurd proposals,’ Mr Tsipras said. He had already stunned the IMF on
Thursday by announcing a £220million debt repayment would not be made on time. Failure to make a repayment to the IMF is almost
unprecedented, and sparked new fears that Greece could be pushed into
bankruptcy – and out of the euro – in the coming weeks. The country said it
would bundle up its June payments into a single £1.1billion sum – giving Athens
until the end of the month to find the money. June 5 http://goo.gl/kUWs28
The cardinal
ingresses of the Sun have a traditional reputation as important mundane events. Of these the
Capricorn Ingress has a special place and is considered by many to be the annual chart. Shown here is the Capricorn
Ingress chart for Athens, Greece with only the elements relevant to our
discussion. The important thing to note is the Grand Cross on the angles.
Uranus-Pluto is the dominating square contained in the Cross about which Bill
Herbst writes.
The alignment
indicates a breakdown in our largest institutions (Capricorn) that starts from
within the institutions themselves as an egregious overplaying of their power
in ways that are clearly self-serving rather than for the greater good (Pluto),
which is then furthered by an unexpected rebellion (Uranus) against
institutional malfeasance, a seemingly spontaneous insurrection that occurs
from the ground level up, fomented by individuals (Aries) who stand up in
protest against the oppressive influence of such institutions. Actually, these
insurrections aren’t spontaneous; they’ve been brewing invisibly under the
surface, slowly heating up as discontent with the status quo grows. Such
rebellions manifest as potent and disruptive forces in the collective, however,
only after critical mass is reached at the boiling point, so that they appear
to arise full-blown and without precedent, as if out of nowhere.
Two factors
that tell us that this crisis is about money and resources are Venus on the IC
and the dwarf planet Makemake on the Ascendant. About Makemake Nick Fiorenza
writes:
Makemake is
about issues regarding the
administration of resources; and in areas involving economics, ecology and
human survival. Makemake impels us to take a stance for higher spiritual
principles against those seeking to destroy life and who manipulatively seek to
control others and the world's resources, as well as to our own less than
healthy or integrous patterns of behavior.
If we now
progress the Capricorn Ingress chart to June 30 when the bundled payment to the
IMF is due we find that the Venus-Uranus-Pluto element of the cross reaches the
MC triggering what can be expected to be a possible default.
