“Game over”, said senior EU officials engaged in
back-to-back meetings and negotiations for the past 10 days, as the
brinkmanship in the Greek negotiations reached breaking point. If no deal is
agreed at the weekend, Greece will miss a €1.6bn payment due to the
International Monetary Fund next Tuesday, along with access to emergency
support from the European Central Bank that is keeping the Greek banking system
afloat.
As a two-day EU leaders’ summit ended in Brussels
on Friday, several senior officials said Tsipras had to make a choice between
accepting the creditors’ ultimatum or embarking on a road that could take
Greece out of the euro. The chances of saving Greece were put at 50-50. Angela
Merkel, the German chancellor, who talked privately with the Greek leader in
Brussels on Friday morning, urged him to go the “extra step” and accept what

dynamics of the square.
The alignment
indicates a breakdown in our largest institutions (Capricorn) that starts from
within the institutions themselves as an egregious overplaying of their power
in ways that are clearly self-serving rather than for the greater good (Pluto),
which is then furthered by an unexpected rebellion (Uranus) against
institutional malfeasance, a seemingly spontaneous insurrection that occurs
from the ground level up, fomented by individuals (Aries) who stand up in
protest against the oppressive influence of such institutions. Actually, these
insurrections aren’t spontaneous; they’ve been brewing invisibly under the
surface, slowly heating up as discontent with the status quo grows. Such
rebellions manifest as potent and disruptive forces in the collective, however,
only after critical mass is reached at the boiling point, so that they appear
to arise full-blown and without precedent, as if out of nowhere.
Let us
progress the return chart to June 26 when the crisis seems to have come to a
boil as is reported in the news. Sure enough the Grand Cross which was aligned
with the meridian now straddles the horizon axis triggering the issues mentioned
above. While we cannot predict the
outcome of the talks, it appears more and more that "critical mass" has been reached and that a breakup is just around the corner.
