Leading Indian architect Charles Correa has died
after a brief illness in the western city of Mumbai, aged 84. Often described
as India's greatest contemporary architect, Mr Correa's eye-catching buildings
helped define its post-independence architecture. Mr Correa was known for his
wide-ranging design work, from cultural and civic monuments to modest housing
developments. His influence and style has spread far beyond the subcontinent. Correa was known for the
"open-to-sky" design concept reflected in several of his famous
projects. Among his recent last works were Toronto's Ismaili Centre and the
Brain Science Centre at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), his
alma mater. June 17 http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-india-33160844
The death
of the famous Indian architect has come exactly at the New Moon of June 16. A
chart for the New at Bombay is shown here. It is conjunct Alnitak, a star in
the belt of Orion. About the constellation Orion, Nick Fiorenza writes:
Orions are
industrious, enterprising and architectural, often of grandiose extravagant
projects.
The New
Moon is on the descendant highlighting a Kronos-Cupido opposition on the
horizon axis. The TNP Cupido, among
other things, is about “decor; artistry; sense for art’’ as well as about “buildings,
houses and real estate” while Kronos is a TNP linked to fame so by association
here we are talking about a famous
architect.
Also
notice that the TNP Poseidon aspects the TNP Cupido and the New Moon. Poseidon is about receptivity to “spiritual
influences” or “light”. Correa’s signature open-to-sky style flooded his
creations with natural light, vastly improving living conditions especially for
lower income groups, housing for whom was often dingy and claustrophobic.
The New
Moon and TNPs Cupido-Poseidon are in
aspect to Venus [10le] in the 8th.
Here Venus is the ruler of the 10th house placed in the 8th.
The 10th house in mundane astrology refers to famous people while
the 8th refers to death. So
putting the pieces together the New Moon chart is referring, among other
things, to the death of a famous architect.
