The Catacombs of Anubis at North Saqqara

Anubis attending the mummy of the deceased

(CNN)For centuries, dogs have been humans' loyal, domesticated companions. They've been wild animals, doing what's needed to survive. And in ancient Egypt, they served as bridges to the afterlife, with the hope that they'd intercede with the god Anubis on their owner's behalf. But only now is it becoming known the extent to which dogs served this latter role -- 8 million times over. That is the number of dead animals, most of them dogs, estimated to have laid in the catacombs of Anubis around Saqqara, one of Egypt's most historic and oft-visited sites, according to a group of British researchers. While such mass burials aren't unprecedented, given the numerous animal cults of ancient Egypt, this one's scale makes it unique.  June 20

In mundane astrology the conjunction of planets are among important events.  Shown here is the  chart for the June 14 conjunction of Sun and Mars at Saqqara.  Notice that the conjunction is significantly placed square the meridian axis. On the MC is the asteroid Requiem (ceremonies  connected with death)  among the stars of the constellation Canes Venatici [1]. Canes Venatici represents two dogs, two hounds, or two greyhounds, on a leash or brach, the leash held by Bootes, the Herdsman or Bear Driver.

The Ascendant [10sa] of the chart is square Neptune [9pi] which is part of the ancient Chinese asterism Hiu-Liang , the Funeral Mound Bridge. Burial places in China were surrounded by four ditches to prevent passers by from getting too close . Hiu-Liang was the bridge to get to the burial ground. The asterism presided over graves, tombs, mausoleums and uninhabited places [2].

P.S. It is interesting to note that  Sun-Mars are also conjunct the asteroid Arachne which among other things stands for a complex web or maze. A catacomb here!
