China's
stock market crash is now stretching into its third week, and share prices in
Shanghai have lost a third of their value since mid-June. The country's market
watchdog has warned of a "mood of panic." And some say the crash
might have graver implications for the world economy than the crisis in Greece.
Earlier this year, China's stock market was displaying many of the classic
warning signs of a bubble. Grandmas, cab drivers and college kids were all
making small fortunes in a frenzy of "chao gu" or stir-frying stocks
-- Chinese slang for trading. And the stock rally came at a time when the wider
economy was slowing, puzzling many financial analysts. But now they say gravity
is taking effect. July 8 http://edition.cnn.com/2015/07/08/asia/china-stocks-explainer/index.html
The
news report mentions that the stock market crash began around mid June which is
just at the New Moon of June 16. A chart for the New Moon shows it placed in
the 5th house at Shanghai in
aspect to Venus-Jupiter on the descendant. Stock market speculation is assigned
to the 5th house [1]. Venus-Jupiter combinations are temptations for
making easy money. An undeveloped financial sense accompanies these
combinations so that one can lose money as easily. Diana Rosenberg links stars in this area to “the
collapse of extreme speculations”.
There was a solar eclipse here
in 1636, three months before the collapse of the “Tulip Mania” that had held
Holland in thrall from 1634, with wild outrageously high prices for bulbs, and
a solar eclipse in 1720 one month before the collapse of the “South Sea Bubble”
speculation mania that caused financial collapse and utter ruin to thousands.
Mars in Scorpio, squared these stars at the 1929 Stock Market crash.
With
Saturn conjunct the MC, it is in a paran aspect to the Venus-Jupiter in Leo on
the descendant. If Venus-Jupiter in Leo is a temptation for easy money, grim
Saturn in Scorpio is a reality check causing gravity to take effect on any
bubble.
Progressing
the chart to June 8, the date of the news, brings the IC to an alignment with
the New Moon.
