Greeks go to the polls on Sunday to vote on whether
to accept the bailout programme proposed by international lenders that would
restart financial aid in exchange for further austerity and economic reform. The
government is urging people to vote no, with the finance minister, Yanis
Varoufakis, saying it is time to end years of rolling over Greece’s bailouts
and “pretending” its debts can be repaid. But Eurozone leaders have insisted
that if Greece votes no, it will be saying goodbye to the euro. Two former
Greek prime ministers, Kostas Karamanlis and Antonis Samaras, both of the
centre-right New Democracy party, are urging a yes vote, saying that a return
to the drachma would kill the Greek economy. So how do top economists say they
would vote - and why?
Stiglitz has decried the economics behind the
international creditors’ programme for Greece as “abysmal”. “I can think of no
depression, ever, that has been so deliberate and had such catastrophic
consequences,” he wrote this week. He says it is hard to advise Greeks how to
vote on 5 July, given both options carry “huge risks”. But it is clear the
Nobel laureate himself would vote no: A no vote would at least open the
possibility that Greece, with its strong democratic tradition, might grasp its
destiny in its own hands. Greeks might gain the opportunity to shape a future
that, though perhaps not as prosperous as the past, is far more hopeful than
the unconscionable torture of the present. http://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/jul/03/greek-referendum-what-the-experts-say
Nick Fiorenza
in his commentary on the current New Moon writes:
The New Moon is with Mars which can impel audacious brave creative action and
strong leadership, providing an opportunity to claim greater personal
self-empowerment. This lunar cycle is about the use of personal power and our
creative initiative. With a sextile to
Juno it is about creative action in partnerships of all types. The Mars-New
Moon aligns with Pallas, Pholus, Ixion
and Quaoar adds a significant complexity to our lunar month's theme. In part,
it brings emphasis to the use of creative power in response to tyrannical
behavior. There is also strong impetus to use our creative power in a
leadership capacity that establishes a greater social justice via a harmonious
revolution [1].
At
Athens, the current New Moon of June 16 was placed in the 8th house which
in mundane astrology rules “national
debt” [2] so we can see where the Greeks are being asked to exercise their “creative
power in response to tyrannical behavior”.
On the MC of the chart is the star Dubhe.
Dubhe (Alpha) and Merak, (Beta) of Ursa
Major, expressing through later Cancer, manifest the integrous side of the
Great Bear, and are the pointers to Earth’s current North Star, Polaris of the
Little Bear, Ursa Minor—of bringing attention to and caring for the young, for
future generations.
Dubhe embodies the pursuit for a greater
vision beyond the accepted political-religious dogmas of the human world that
keep humanity in darkness and delusion; and against the controlling global
forces perpetuating that dogmatic rule. At a personal level, Dubhe asks us to
do all we can to achieve the greater vision that we hold for the unfoldment of
our lives—for the true nourishment, fulfillment, and freedom we seek. Dubhe
asks us to emerge from the collective and our own personal dogmas (our belief
structures) and our limiting life patterns that keep us bound in life scenarios
that are less than those we truly want. Dubhe supports us to strive for a new
and better future rather than merely staying reactive to the limitations we
have already created and reinforce with our existing beliefs [3].
The second
important event that has occurred in the last few days is the Sun’s entry into
Cancer. A chart for the ingress has the Sun and Mars square the nodal axis
which is prominently aligned with the meridian implying that it has an
important message for Athens. The TNPs Kronos-Hades are also conjunct the Sun and Mars. This combination refers to the growing divide
between those in authority (the troika) and the common man and essentially a
situation where laws or authoritative action (Kronos) are just making things worse
(Hades). The Sun square the nodal axis is the phenomena known as “Moon Wobble”.
During this time the instability factor is high, resulting in accidents, political and personal upheavals etc. We know that the “Moon Wobble” brings suppressed energies in people to the surface,
erupting and disrupting.
The Sun and Mars (along with TNPs Kronos and Hades) conjoin
the stars that form the foot of Castor, Tejat and Propus of Gemini. These stars
tend to impel us to emerge from our own mental obscurations or illusions. Tejat
will bring forth that which has been suppressed to be seen and in doing so may
draw experiences that are reflections of parts of our selves that seem rather
dark and opposing to our unfoldment. Forces of the mortal world may indeed be
out for our demise, but they are our worthy opponents, for they reflect the
fears, hesitancies, and blockages within our selves to step through into our
paths of fulfillment in the world. Tejat asks that we be willing to walk
through the shadows of self to claim our power and place in the physical world.
[4]
So will these
star energies erupt on Sunday, when Greece referendum is held? We cannot
presume to know the answer for sure but my guess is a “NO” vote.
P.S. The Greek national chart is a subject of
debate. http://www.astrologyweekly.com/astrology-articles/greece-natal-chart.php
However, one chart accepted by Nick Campion is
based on Jan 13, 1822. The time is speculative so we will stick only to the
date. For this date, the solar arc progressed Sun is currently at [2le]
conjunct the natal asteroid Siwa [2le] and square Amor [4ta]. Siwa is a
destroyer and transformer. Siwa’s destructions attempt to force one to live in
one’s own center. With Amor, acceptance has become the means of one’s
destruction and the lack of boundaries is what must be reformulated anew. The
message of Amor-Siwa here is “all those who claim to love you may actually be invading
your boundaries. Develop healthy boundaries, otherwise you are going to be
destroyed”.
