(CNN)A preliminary investigation into a hiker's
death in Yellowstone National Park suggests the man was attacked by a grizzly bear.
While the exact cause of death has not been determined, investigators said they
identified what appear to be defensive wounds on the victim's forearms,
Yellowstone National Park said in a statement Saturday. A forensic autopsy is
scheduled for Monday. The victim, whose name has not been released, was found
Friday (Aug.7) in a popular off-trail area less than a mile from Elephant Back
Loop Trail -- an area he was known to frequent. His body was partially eaten
and covered. August 9
The victim
of the bear attack was found on August 7, just a day after the Last Quarter
Moon. Here the luminaries are in angular houses and therefore significant. The
Sun[14le] is conjunct the star Dubhe [15le]. Alpha (α) Ursa Major, Dubhe, is a
yellow star on the back of the Greater Bear. In an obvious reference to this
star, Diana Rosenberg links this area with “bear attacks”. The Moon [14ta] is conjunct the star Menkar
[14ta] in the jaws of Cetus and Almach [14ta], the foot of Andromeda. The image
here is of Cetus the Sea Monster about to devour Andromeda, a symbolic
reference to “danger from animals”.
But the
question remains “why at Yellowstone”. The
stars on the four angles – the Ascendant,
Descendant and the MC, IC are specific for a place so that when the theme of those stars resonate
with those of the planets in a mundane chart, it is there that an event will
occur.
On the
Ascendant [2aq] are stars of Aquila, the Eagle. More generally, we need to understand
the Eagle here as a symbol of an animal that preys on others. For this area
too, Diana Rosenberg lists “animal attacks (especially bears and snakes)” and
gives us the following examples :
These stars were transited in 1991
when a mother grizzly attacked a hiker in Glacier National Park, MT (his wife
beat the bear off, the hiker survived) and the following day when a 6-ft Taipan
snake attacked a man in Mareeba, Australia; this was the South Node of venomous snake expert J B Slowinski killed
by the bite of a krait; in 1996 when
nature photographer Michio Hoshino was pulled from his tent and mauled to death
by a 7-ft, 500 lb grizzly at Kamchatka; in 1998 when a mother grizzly killed
and ate a hiker in Glacier National Park, MT and several others.
Finally,
in passing, we note that on the MC with Saturn are stars of Lupus – “the beast
of death”.
