Obama unveils Clean Power Plan

US President Barack Obama is due to unveil what he called "the biggest, most important step we have ever taken" in tackling climate change. The aim of the revised Clean Power Plan is to cut greenhouse gas emissions from US power stations by nearly a third within 15 years. The measures will place significant emphasis on wind and solar power and other renewable energy sources. However, opponents in the energy industry have vowed to fight the plan. They say Mr Obama has declared "a war on coal", the source of more than a third of power requirements in the US. Each US state will have an emission-cutting goal assigned to it and must submit a proposal to the Environmental Protection Agency on how it will meet the target. The BBC's Tom Bateman in Washington says President Obama will be hoping that Monday's (Aug. 3) announcement secures his legacy on climate change. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-33753067

The President’s radix Sun [12le] is conjunct the star Kochab, beta Ursae Minoris  of the Little Bear. The constellations of the Mother Bear and her Cub have long been associated with “issues relating to the destruction or protection of children, animals and the environment” [1].
The news on the Clean Power Plan comes on the eve of Obama’s  54th birthday on August 4th . Notice that Saturn has just stationed direct on his radix MC [28sc] which forms a Grand Cross with the Nodal axis, Moon, Uranus and Pluto. Currently Obama’s solar arc progressed Ascendant [10ar] makes a sesquisquare aspect to radix Uranus [25le], the leading edge of his Uranus-Pluto-Node conjunction (over which Jupiter is transiting) . Uranus and the Node are conjunct the stars Adhafera, Al Jabhah and Alphard.

Adhafera, the Lion's main and Al Jabhah, Eta Leo, conjoin the themes of Alphard, Suhail Al Muhlif, and the Pup-A Supernova Remnant. Here we might think more in terms of what is hidden by the mane, the brain or mind of the Lion, the Lion's persona and how the Lion thinks—perhaps with a sense of aloneness yet with audacious confidence and pride. These stars inspire prominence from a willingness to stand alone.

Alphard, Alpha Hydra, is the "Solitary One." Alphard inspires us to step away from the comfort and security of the accepted and agreed upon consensus defining our known reality, to walk a lone path. It asks us to risk our reputations, our work, our lives, and our beliefs, driven by the passion within our hearts, to find new answers to the challenges that we face in our pursuits. Alphard, in conjunction with the head and mane of the Lion, is often of those who, for one reason or another, have self-exiled themselves from the norm, who stand alone, or are willing to, yet who create new ways that the masses would not otherwise pursue.

Reinhold Ebertin connects Uranus-Pluto with the process of transformation and the ending of old orders. Transit Saturn is conjunct  stars of strong man Hercules and the Serpent.  About this area, Diana Rosenberg writes that it produces daring trail blazers with a sense of mission and willingness to take risks. Among events here she lists “air and gas poisoning” (the Serpent’s breath was considered poisonous) and gives the following examples:

The 1971 accidental release of deadly, Soviet, weapons-grade smallpox virus near Aralsk, Kazakhstan requiring  massive quarantines and emergency inoculations of 50,000; Mars when a CO2 gas burst from Cameroon’s crater Lake Monoun killed 37 villagers in 1984; the Node at the 1984, Bhopal,  India Union Carbide methylisocyanate  gas disaster, “the worst industrial disaster in history”; Pluto in 1995 when news of a Kikwit, Zaire Ebola virus outbreak reached the Center for Disease Control in Atlanta.

Obama’s radix North Node [27le] is conjunct the star Alfard. Alpha (α) Hydra, Alfard, is an orange star in the neck of the Watersnake. Elsbeth Ebertin links this star to “gas poisoning, smoke inhalation and danger of suffocation” [2].

Finally, we look at the star Thuban which is conjunct Obama's radix Pluto. Alpha (α) Draco, Thuban, is a pale yellow star in the Dragon. About this star Nick Fiorenza [3] writes:

Thuban, in the far northern heavens, was Earth’s pole star circa 2600 BC near the "tear of the Bear," a point in Earth’s ~25,000-year "evolutionary cycle of the soul" at which a turning and fractioning occurred in the hierarchical powers governing Earth. This dramatized the separation between those choosing to fight for a greater evolutionary vision and those wanting to maintain totalitarian control of the Earth with their antics to do so. Alignments with Thuban indicate a responsibility for having altered the direction of evolutionary affairs for life on Earth in a negative way with repercussions incurred at soul level, and with responsibility to ensure evolutionary fulfillment now. Thuban's eminence in our celestial sphere demands we take responsibility for our past-future experience throughout our sojourn on Earth, especially for the destructive or disrupting use of force. Also conjoining Thuban is Alioth of the Great Bear, the star of personal will. Alignments with Alioth teach us that our personal actions can alter the evolutionary currents that create our souls' evolutionary destiny. Alioth stimulates the use of personal will and our need to initiate personal action. Alioth is one of the classical seven rays of the Great Bear teaching incarnating souls the ramifications of the use of personal power. Alioth can express as forceful and manipulative use of power merely for personal gain, or when mastered, it can express as personal will attuned to Divine Will in phenomenal accomplishment that responsibly steers our evolutionary course. Curiously, Bear teaches us to be a caring and nurturing force, to have respect for all life--lessons global powers have yet to learn.
