Predator or prey? The shape of animals' eyes holds the key

Astronomical Myth is a "picture language," imagery that articulates the qualities of cosmic intelligence expressing throughout the greater heavens and through our lives. We are not separate from the greater heavens, from the stars and planets around us, or from our beloved Earth, but are intimate parts of this dynamic, continually unfolding heavenly symphony. This entirety is our cosmic consciousness, the totality of our being. To explore the greater heavens and the heavenly cycles is to explore that which we are--our embracing consciousness and our spiritual evolution. – Nick Fiorenza

Diana – Goddess of the Hunt

It is often said that the eyes are a window to the soul and now research suggests that their shape can be used to distinguish between predator and prey in the animal kingdom. A study by the University of California, Berkeley  and Durham University found that animals with pupils shaped like vertical slits are more likely to be ambush-predator species such as cats and crocodiles. Meanwhile, plant-eating “prey” species such as sheep and goats tend to have horizontal, elongated “letterbox” pupils. And circular pupils are linked to “active foragers” – animals that chase down their prey rather than creeping up and ambushing them. August 7. http://goo.gl/EoX4CY

The news comes just a day after the third quarter Moon. A chart for the phase  has the Sun  square the meridian. The Sun [14le] is conjunct  stars in the Arabic lunar mansion, Al Tarf, “The Glance” or “The Eyes” of the Lion and the asteroid Diana [11le].

Diana is the Roman Goddess [1] of the woodlands, wild animals and of the hunt (see image). Within the province of the asteroid Diana fall events and issues that revolve around “hunting” and by association the two protagonists  in the hunt – the prey and the predator.

Andromeda and Cetus

The Moon [14ta] on the IC  is conjunct the stars Almach of Andromeda [14ta]  and Menkar of Cetus [14ta]. Almach is the snagged foot of Andromeda about to be snapped by the jaws (Menkar) of  Cetus, the Sea-Monster – a perfect image of a predator about to devour its prey!
