According to the US Geological Survey, a strong
earthquake has struck off the coast of Chile, leaving officials concerned that
dangerous waves could be en route for the Chilean coast. With a preliminary
magnitude of 7.9, later upgraded to 8.3 by the US Geological Survey, the quake
occurred approximately 153 miles northwest of the Chilean capital of Santiago,
and 4.8 miles below the surface of the Pacific Ocean. Sept.17; http://sputniknews.com/latam/20150917/1027111917.html
Richard Nolle
in his September forecast wrote:
September shapes up to be the biggest
geophysical news story of the year: two eclipses (one of them a SuperMoon) plus
a Mercury Max make for a lot of turbulence in Earth’s crust, seas, atmosphere
and magnetosphere. It all adds up to a huge potential for powerful storms and
seismic activity; along with an increase in solar storms that heighten risks
for breakdowns in electrical and electronic equipment – including the
bioelectric field that is human consciousness. Sometimes the world can feel
haywire and out of control. This month looks like one of those times. http://www.astropro.com/homeIE45.html
Earthquakes
have been found to be associated with eclipses, especially if the eclipse chart
brings important planetary configurations to the angles. A chart drawn for the
lunar eclipse of Sept. 28 at Santiago, Chile has the Jupiter-Neptune-Mars-Saturn
T-square aligned with the meridian.
Here Neptune
on the MC is conjunct kappa Pegasi, in the Flying Horse’s forefoot. Poseidon, later adopted into Roman myth as
Neptune was known as “Earthshaker”.
Poseidon mated with Medusa - the only mortal gorgon – and she gave birth
to their child, the winged horse Pegasus. It was said of Pegasus that earthquakes took place when he stomped his
feet so that Diana Rosenberg links this area with “unusually powerful
earthquakes”.
In addition
on the Ascendant is the evil star Algol. Among other things, this star has beenlinked
to eruptions, quakes and storms: 365 CE: a great earthquake/ tsunami hit
Knossos (Crete), Greece, Cyprus and Alexanadria, Egypt; 1857: an extremely
violent earthquake hit Calabria, Italy killing more than 10,000; 1906 an 8.9
quake hit Tumaco, Colombia and Cabo de San Francisco, Ecuador killing 400; in
1976: the frightful 8.5 Táng Shan earthquake, China killed at least 250,000;
1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens; 1902 eruption of Mt. Pelee and many others.
In addition
as Richard Nolle points out that Mercury station retrograde on Sept. 17 is another
contributor to the turbulence in the earth’s crust. A chart for the station has
Mercury placed on the MC forming a T-square with Uranus-Pluto. Richard Tarnas
associates Uranus-Pluto with “the unleashing of the elemental forces of nature
in various senses (the tangible increase in signs of extreme climate change,
volcanoes and earthquakes, tornadoes and hurricanes, tsunamis and floods,
undersea oil eruptions and mining disasters).”
