The Desert of the Real: The Saturn-Neptune Gestalt

Everything is fake in our society today – or at least a great many things are. Our world is filled with an extraordinary amount of lies, deception, disinformation, misinformation, fakery, fraud, facades, mirages, propaganda and brainwashing. The good thing though is that once you awaken to the deception, you can use it as a tool for raising your consciousness. The idea that virtually everything is fake can be empowering rather than depressing. Sure, we’ve all felt overwhelmed, sad, angry and impotent at times when we’ve seen just how easily our (mis)leaders can fool the masses with sophistry and empty rhetoric, but they’ve all been placed there to challenge us to wake up more quickly and fully, and reclaim our world.  August 18 http://www.wakingtimes.com/2015/08/18/everything-is-fake-top-40-pieces-of-fakery-in-our-world/

A Mirage

This article appeared on August 18 coinciding with the Crescent Moon. A chart for the Moon phase at Washington DC  has the  Jupiter-Neptune opposition on the meridian square Saturn on the Ascendant. Neptune is the planet of illusions, fakery and deceit. With Jupiter the planet that expands or blows things out of proportion we have everything touched by the Neptunian fraud.

Enter Saturn, the planet of the real. Squaring Jupiter-Neptune it helps us discriminate, the real from the unreal…truth from lies. The following extract from Bill Streett [1] explains the Saturn-Neptune dynamics:

Collective Mourning and The Loss of the Dream

During Saturn-Neptune alignments, instances of loss and tragedy manifest that compel humanity to focus on the rift between the ideal and the reality of our situation….(and) the issue of the division between our aspirations and the downfall of our human condition become front and central issues. However, this division between the ideal and the real is not made transparent through the urging of inner knowledge but through specific circumstances that engage loss, tragedy, and their resultant mourning. Saturn symbolizes not only impediments toward the manifestation of another archetype but Saturn also creates a sense of endings, terminations, and conclusions relative to the symbolism of the contrasting planetary archetype. When discussing expressions of the Saturn-Neptune gestalt, one has to acknowledge that events and experiences transpire that give a sense of endings around Neptune’s core and fundamental symbolism. Thus, with Saturn and Neptune, we often need to witness the loss of a dream, the surrender of some collective ideal.

  1. Excellent. Seeing through deception is really empowering rather than depressing. In India the word for real or truth is Satya. 'Sat' means 'as it exists. Hence uncovering 'truth' (as things are) is an empowering skill in the sense that when practiced consistently, it leads us to enlightenment -- in gradual steps.
