Restorers are at work on King Tutankhamun’s beard,
Egypt’s state-run news agency MENA said. According to the report, the
restoration began on Saturday and is being carried out by a German-Egyptian
team of restorers led by specialist Christian Eckmann. “Tutankhamun’s mask has
been transferred from its exhibition hall to another room in the museum that
has been turned into a restoration laboratory,” antiquities department
spokeswoman Mushira Mussa told Middle East online.The intervention takes place
more than a year after the long, narrow, blue and gold beard suffered a botched

On October
12, the date of the news report, there was an exact Sun-Uranus opposition. A
chart for this celestial event drawn for Cairo, Egypt is shown here. Notice that it is placed very significantly on
the horizon axis forming a T-square with Pluto on the IC. Among the several
manifestation of Uranus-Pluto, Ebertin lists “accidents”. Apparently, King Tut’s beard had
come off in an accident about a year back.
But the most interesting element in the chart is Uranus [18ar]. It is
conjunct the star lambda Cephei [16ar] in the King’s face and Diana Rosenberg
links this star with “facial disfigurement” [1].
