2,400-Year-Old Healing Temple dedicated to
Asclepius, God of Healing, Excavated in Greece
Archaeologists in Greece have excavated an ancient
healing temple in the acropolis of Feneos dedicated to Asclepius, god of
healing. Along with the foundations of
the sacred temple, researchers also found an enormous statue of Asclepius, and
his daughter Hygeia; an elaborate mosaic floor, marble podiums, and offering
tables.
International Business Times reports that the
2,400-year-old temple, known as Asclepion (a healing temple dedicated to the
god Ascelpius) was first discovered in 1958. However, archaeologists have only
recently carried out extensive excavations of the site and have been able to
piece together the layout of the site, as well as unearth numerous important
artifacts. Oct.25
The
discovery of the ancient temple was made at Feneos, Greece. A chart for the
waxing Gibbous Moon of October 24 drawn for Feneos is shown here. The most
significant thing to notice about the chart is the T-square comprising
Saturn-Neptune with the asteroid Hygiea [1] on the MC.
HYGIEA: Medical concerns and health
(especially issues related to FITNESS;) “hygiene” and cleanliness.
Here
Saturn [3sa] is conjunct the star Yed Posterior. Epsilon (ε) Ophiuchus, Yed
Posterior, is a red star in the left hand of the Serpent Bearer. Ophiuchus, or
Serpentarius, the Serpent-holder, the Serpent Bearer, the Serpent Wrestler, or
the Snake Charmer, is depicted holding a snake, the snake is represented by the
constellation Serpens. The constellation is located around the celestial
equator with the two legs of Ophiuchus protruding right into the zodiac and
south of the ecliptic. Ophiuchus is identified with Aesculapius (Asklepios,
Asclepius), an ancient physician who grew so skilled in the craft of healing
that he was able to restore the dead to life.
On the IC
is Neptune [7pi] conjunct gamma (γ) Aquarius, Sadalachbia, a 4th magnitude
greenish star in the right arm of the Water Bearer. In India this was the area
of Satabhisaj “A Hundred Physicians”. Roebuck believes that the name may equate
Aquarius with Dhanvantari, The
Physician of the Gods bearing the pot
containing the nectar of immortality (this could relate it to Gula, the early
Euphratean goddess of medicine). In addition, Diana Rosenberg links this area
to archaeological finds so that the discovery of the 2,400-Year-Old Healing
Temple dedicated to Asclepius, God of Healing, is not surprising.
