US losing out to Russian wheat exports

The United States was once the world's leading wheat exporter, but now is losing its position to Russia and Canada due a stronger dollar, stagnant yields, rising competition and climate change. According to analysts, exports of wheat may drop 9.3 percent to 21.1 million metric tons in the season ending May 31, the lowest since 1972.  “We’re no longer going to lead in volume every year,” said Alan Tracy, president of US Wheat Associates told Bloomberg, adding that an increase in global wheat trade was the only hope for the country. As  readers are aware we are going through a long term Jupiter-Saturn-Neptune T-square  in 2015-16. Neptune, the slowest moving  and therefore the defining planet in the T, is in Pisces. Pisces is an era of storms and of wholesale disintegration. Those, individuals or nations, who refuse a confrontation with their past and stubbornly resist change are not likely to survive. This is the essential message that the T-square conveys.

As the elements of the T-square aspect each other, its message is conveyed at various places on earth, more significantly at those places where it aligns with angles. The last Jupiter-Saturn square took place on March 23, 2016. A chart for the square at Arlington where US Wheat Associates has its headquarters is shown here. Notice that Neptune is on the Ascendant and Jupiter on the descendant while apex Saturn is on the MC. In mundane astrology, the Ascendant or First House reflects the “general state of the nation”[1] while the Seventh House has to do with its “enemies”[2]. So the health of the nation is troubled by the disintegrating action of Neptune while the enemy (Russia) appears to prosper.

Jupiter is now in Virgo and is  offering growth potential to all things under the archetype. The Greeks and Romans associated Virgo with their goddess of wheat/agriculture. She is often portrayed carrying two sheaves of wheat. So is it all surprising that the Russians are beating the Americans in wheat production and export!

However, Jupiter in Virgo opposed to Pisces is not entirely negative. It can offer some valuable insights into the unconscious habits and drives that lead to our undoing and failure (Pisces). But who is listening!!
