At
least 12 people have died of dehydration and exhaustion while sitting in
traffic in Indonesia. Traffic filled up three lanes for several days on the
island of Java. Crowds travelling to their home villages to mark the end of the
holy month of Ramadan converged around a single traffic junction, where
building work forced them to wait. Most victims were elderly and died in hot
cars, officials say. One toddler was poisoned to death by exhaust fumes. Daytime
temperatures in the city of Brebes, where the jam occurred, have been close to
30C (86F) all week. July 8; http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-36748008
The Muslim holiday Eid-ul-Fitr which comes at the end of the
holy month of Ramadan was celebrated on July 6 just two days after the New Moon
of July 4. A chart for the New Moon at Brebes has it placed very significantly
on the descendant opposite Pluto on the Ascendant and square TNP Zeus (heat) on
the MC. The New Moon [12cn] is conjunct the star 61 Aurigae [12cn] in the
constellation of the Charioteer and alpha (α) Canis Major, Sirius [14cn], a brilliant star in the Greater dog. The
Chariot is an ancient symbol that applies well to a modern day car.
About Sirius,
Manilius wrote:
"The brilliant constellation
of the Dog: it barks forth flame, raves with its fire, and doubles the burning
heat of the Sun." [Manilius, Astronomica, 1st century AD, book 5,
p.316-319].
And Hesiod advised his country neighbors:
"When Sirius parches head
and knees, and the body is dried up by reason of heat, then sit in the shade
and drink."
No wonder the unfortunate victims died in “hot cars”. But
what explains the traffic jam? That is
explained elegantly by the TNP Admetus which forms a semi-square to the New
Moon on the descendant. A keyword for Admetus [1] is blockages or jams.
ADMETUS: Facing
blockages; biding your time; encountering delays, frustrations, complications
or the need for something else to happen BEFORE success or progress.
