Dilma Rousseff Confronts Senate of Scoundrels

Dilma Rousseff entered the Senate and calmly stared down her accusers. She left with her head held high after exhorting those Senators to vote with their conscience. Most of those politicians present probably had no idea what conscience means; they’re no more than corrupt messenger boys. But the Brazilian collective unconscious – Jung to the rescue – will be marked. President Dilma Rousseff, in a detailed, occasionally emotional speech, defended herself with honor and dignity from accusations she committed a “crime of responsibility”. She was not actually facing a political cesspool, but that ‘Angel of History’ so beloved by Walter Benjamin. History will judge her kindly.

Meanwhile, it ain’t over till a dodgy politico sings. As I write, Rousseff is on the way to be stripped from the presidency of the world’s 8th largest economy by a bunch of scoundrel-cum-coward politicos. Her only fear, she said, was the “death of democracy”. Rousseff’s impeachment means in practice that democratic voting in one of the world’s largest democracies will be cancelled by a parliamentary coup remote-controlled by oligarchic interests. This is not, and never was, about justice; it’s about dirty, nasty politics. Sept.1

The news of President Dilma Rousseff impeachment comes just at the  September 1, solar eclipse. The eclipse falls very significantly on the descendant of the mundane chart of Brazil [1]. Not only that, it forms a powerful T-square with the meridian axis at Brasilia, the capital of Brazil.  The following extract from Nick Fiorenza’s post on the eclipse entitled New Directions explains very elegantly, the challenge facing the people of Brazil.

This New Moon eclipse lies in the midst of the stars of Leo and under the auspices of Thuban of Draco and Alioth of the Great Bear. It also conjoins the stars of the Sextant, and Suhail Velorum of Argo Navis in the very southern heavens.Thuban of Draco, in the far northern heavens, just north of Alioth of the Great Bear, was Earth’s pole star circa 2800 BCE, a point in Earth’s ~25,000-year “evolutionary cycle of the soul” at which time a turning and fractioning occurred in the hierarchical powers governing Earth. This dramatized the separation between those choosing to fight for a greater evolutionary vision and those wanting to maintain totalitarian control of the Earth.

This New Moon eclipse and lunar cycle is about personal and global leadership, transcendent evolutionary currents, and the use of personal will to direct our evolutionary course with impetus to reassess changing conditions and to change our tack in life accordingly to reach our desired destinations, or it can propel us in new directions of creative expression. It is easy to be misled in our actions if we are not clear within self and set our course. Our opportunity is to attune to subtler guiding currents that can guide us in right action and in the right direction that is attuned to and in harmony with accomplishing our greater soul intent of purpose.

This New Moon, on the North Lunar Node, lies opposite retrograde Neptune on the South Lunar Node, creating a potent T-square to Saturn, which still conjoins the red supergiant star Antares. This creates a strong resonance not only to the theme of the Saturn-Neptune square, but also to Saturn, which can manifest as the overt expression of established authoritarian power, especially in the big-business of politics. It also impels movement from the south to north node energetics, which means movement from antiquated ideals, veils of illusion and unfulfilled dreams of the past to the new directions and opportunities the eclipse inspires.

So will the people of Brazil quietly accept the new leadership of the corrupt politicians or will they rise up in defiance of this illegal parliamentary coup?  Only time will tell.

Istanbul to dedicate monument to famous and beloved cat

Tombili, an Istanbul cat who became a social media phenomenon for a photo of him casually posing on a sidewalk in the city’s Ziverbey neighborhood, died on Aug.1. Tombili, whose fame spread worldwide after his iconic picture appeared on comic site 9GAG, died after a month-long illness. His death was announced by a notice hung on a tree in the neighborhood’s Güleç Street.  “You will live in our hearts,” the notice read.

Amongst those who have little or no practical acquaintance with the science of the stars, it is probable that the subject is believed to begin and end with the horoscope of birth. Important as Natal Astrology is, however, it might be easily argued that there is another branch  surpassing it in value and interest, namely that which is called Mundane Astrology. One of the tools routinely used by Mundane astrologers are the Cardinal Ingresses of the Sun. Progressing the ingress chart can reveal delightful details of news events that would be impossible to track otherwise.

Shown here is the chart for the Cancer ingress of  the Sun at Istanbul progressed to August 1, the day the beloved Turkish cat Tombili died. Notice that the powerful Mercury-Saturn-Jupiter –Neptune-Node straddles the horizon axis. Here Jupiter and the Node are conjunct the Eye Nebula (15vi32) part of the constellation Felis, the Cat. Saturn is conjunct the asteroid Aesculapia linked to illness while the Mercury-Saturn opposition on the horizon brings news (Mercury) of death (Saturn).

Bing Translates 'Daesh' as 'Saudi Arabia,' Infuriates the Kingdom

The Trickster

A bizarre error in a Microsoft search engine algorithm has outraged the Saudi Arabian monarchy. Bing Translator, an app contained within Microsoft’s Bing search engine, allows internet users to translate over 3 dozen languages. As with every translation app or website, by typing in a word or phrase in a chosen language the application renders it in another language. Over the weekend, some users noticed a questionable result when the Arabic word for the Daesh terrorist group was entered into the program. Translated into English, "Daesh" became "Saudi Arabia." Naturally, representatives of the Saudi monarchy were irate, with many calling for a boycott of Bing and its parent company, Microsoft. Aug.30

The incident reported in the news occurred just as Mercury [29vi04] begins it station retrograde. A chart for the station at Riyadh has Mercury in aspect to the angles. In addition it is conjunct the radix Sun [29vi22] in the horoscope of Saudi Arabia[22 Sept. 1932; 5:56 pm LMT; Riyadh] [1].

In her book, Retrograde Planets, Erin Sullivan writes:
As a god of accidental happenings Mercury is underestimated by traditional astrology. His role as a communicator and the educator is not always exercised by conventional means. His affinity with Hades of the underworld sheds an interesting light on the function of Mercury in bringing up the contents of the unconscious at surprising times, not only in retrograde cycles but also in natural cycles of change, hence his association with the trickster figure.

None of the “mistakes”or  “slips” under Mercury retrograde are a coincidence. Freud believed that information in the unconscious emerges in slips of the tongue, jokes, dreams, illness symptoms, and the associations people make between ideas. Retrograde Mercury suddenly presents us with the unexpected in the context of everyday life, lifting us out of the semi-conscious state in which we often pass our time. At that moment a new suggestion can be made by the cosmos. The time of Mercury retrograde is always a time of truth, even when communications seem disrupted and misunderstandings are rife, because misunderstandings themselves are part of the truth of being human. When Mercury is retrograde we’re given a chance to address them and correct the course of events, rather than sweeping them under the carpet, ready to trip us up another day. Indeed, whatever Mercury retrograde brings to us, the best reflection is always, ‘What truth does this reveal to me, and why have I needed it revealed in this way at this time?’ [2].

Seriously, Stop Feeding Wild Animals!

It's definitely not ok to feed the ducks. Here's what happens to wild animals when you feed them and why it's a really bad idea...As science fiction movies and pandemic scares have taught us, diseases can indeed pass from animals to people. But it goes the other way, too. In fact, a recent study found that humans have been giving monkeys staph infections in Africa -- by feeding them peanuts. Not cool, humans. In today's DNews dispatch, Trace Dominguez looks at the Africa study and the ultimate wisdom of that enduring admonition: "Please Don't Feed the Animals." A report in the journal Applied and Environmental Microbiology found that particular groups of green monkeys in The Gambia were contracting Staphylococcus aureus -- otherwise known as staph infection. Scientists were able to sleuth out the situation and discovered that the trouble started in areas where humans were encroaching on the monkeys' habitat. Many deadly diseases that afflict humans were originally acquired through contact with animals. New research published in ASM’s Applied and Environmental Microbiology shows that pathogens can also jump the species barrier to move from humans to animals. The study, that will publish July 29, shows that green monkeys in The Gambia acquired Staphylococcus aureus from humans.

The study carried out in Bangul, Gambia was published on July 29, the very day Uranus stationed direct. A chart for the mundane event highlights a Saturn-Neptune square straddling the meridian with Uranus in hard aspect to Saturn. The square between  Saturn and Neptune is asking us to balance  a perceptual conflict, when addressing moral questions. According to the Neptunian vision, every life  is equally worthy of loving attention and compassionate assistance. From Neptune's perspective, we ought to do whatever we can, in every moment, to immediately ease others' suffering. Should we see somebody struggling, we lend them a hand, no questions asked or judgments offered. Anything less is a symptom of a shut-down heart.

Neptune dissolves boundary and has no limits, and can be associated with ungrounded ideologies, fantasies, and unattainable utopian visions. During a Saturn-Neptune time, such beliefs can get called into question. In January 1964, at the tail end of a Saturn-Neptune square cycle, the Surgeon General of the US released its landmark report warning the public about the dangers of smoking, piercing the illusion of years of successful manipulative ad campaigns by cigarette companies.

Under Saturn’s influence a more responsible approach to our inner landscape can clear up foggy, unclear behavior. Discerning Saturn energy can help reveal delusions we’ve bought into, cutting through our mental haze to reveal what’s real.

In this case here, Uranus in Aries, the combination we associate with new ideas, in hard aspect to the Saturn-Neptune square is correcting the traditional  view that it is good to feed wild animals.

Ceasefire in Colombia ends one of the world's longest running conflicts

One of the world’s longest-running conflicts draws to a close at midnight, after Colombia’s FARC militant group declared a permanent ceasefire ending its five decades of insurgency. The commander of Colombia's biggest rebel movement has said its fighters will permanently cease hostilities with the government as a result of their peace accord. Rodrigo Londono, leader of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), made the announcement in Havana, where the two sides negotiated for four years before announcing the peace deal last week. Aug. 29

The ceasefire is a momentous event since it ends a half-century of political violence which has claimed more than 220,000 lives and driven more than 5 million people from their homes.  To understand this important event we will look at the current Cancer Ingress chart drawn for Havana where the accord was signed. Notice that a powerful Grand Cross straddles the angles. On the IC is Neptune conjunct the star Achernar, alpha Eridanus which marks the end of Eridanus, the River flowing into the Universal Sea – symbolic of endings and new beginnings.  Diana Rosenberg links it to “history and paradigm altering events and peace treaties”[1] .Adding to the general theme of a new beginning, the  last quarter Jupiter-Saturn square impels movement and expansion away from sociopolitical structures that have now become limiting and restricting to new growth.

Progressing the chart to Aug. 29, brings the Grand Cross once again in alignment with the angles triggering its essence. And finally, let us remember that the event takes place just  a day after  Venus, the planet of peace and resolution of conflicts, conjoins fortunate Jupiter.

Houthi forces capture key base in Saudi Arabia

The Houthi forces, backed by the Yemeni Republican Guard, seized a key military base in the Najran area of southern Saudi Arabia, Al-Masirah News Agency reported on Friday night. According to Al-Masirah, the Houthi forces and Yemeni Republican Guard managed to capture the bases in east Shabakah, which is located in the Najran Valley of Saudi Arabia. The Houthi forces have two of the Saudi Army’s flanks surrounded, leaving them in a dire situation inside their own country. Aug. 26

The Saudi strategy in Yemen is suffering a complete collapse. A year old  article How Saudi Arabia got its Yemen campaign so wrong  [1] explains the reasons behind the current debacle. As multiple enemies are defeating Saudi forces, Houthi-rebels are aiming to occupy the southern provinces of Saudi Arabia. On Friday US Secretary of State John Kerry revealed a plan to restart talks to end the ongoing civil war in Yemen. However, the Houthis are not interested in taking part in any peace talks as they are winning the war and see this as a ploy to buy time and stop their successful advance into Saudi Arabia.

A chart for the upcoming solar  eclipse drawn for Riyadh shows why  the Saudi position has become so difficult. Notice that the eclipse is part of a Mars-Saturn-Neptune-Node T-square that straddles the horizon axis and is therefore very significant for the place.

The Mars-Saturn conjunction is placed on the Ascendant. When Mars, the god of war, aligns with Saturn, the destructive combination often gives rise to violence and war. However, a Mars-Neptune square often leads us to take an action that is impractical. It ultimately results in impaired effectiveness, once the ignored factors' presence is unmistakably asserted.  Ebertin gives the following interpretation of the combination:

Mars-Neptune-Saturn: Misdirected energy; failures caused through absence of plans; unfortunate consequences as a result of a weak will.

Making a Murderer

The conviction of Brendan Dassey, a Wisconsin man who appeared in the documentary "Making a Murderer," has been overturned by a federal judge 9 (on Aug.13) in Milwaukee, according to court documents obtained by CNN. His uncle, Steven Avery, the subject of "Making a Murderer," is in a Wisconsin prison also serving time for Halbach's murder. Avery and his nephew Brendan Dassey were convicted of murdering photographer Teresa Halbach and burning her body after she came to take photos of a van at the Avery family’s auto salvage yard on Halloween 2005. The defense attorney representing Steven Avery has filed a motion (on Aug. 26) that accuses investigators of framing the Wisconsin man and demands access to a long list of physical evidence so she can have it all analyzed using advanced scientific tests she says didn’t exist during Avery’s 2007 trial, in which he was convicted of murder and sentenced to life without parole.

Reviewing world news [1] in the light of astrology can be very rewarding as it helps understand how planetary aspects show themselves in events. The conviction of Brendan Dassey was overturned by a federal judge on Aug. 12 just a day before Saturn turned direct. A chart for the event has the Sun beginning its trine to Uranus on the MC. Don’t forget…this is the Sun, in Leo, and Uranus, in Aries, both Fire Signs. Their combined heat creates a desire for liberation from any situation that inhibits freedom. And that would be especially true here since Uranus is in hard aspect to a Mars-Saturn (police - the executive arm of the law) conjunction.

In the last few days, Mars's conjunction to Saturn also brought a simultaneous square to Neptune, due to that ongoing Saturn-Neptune square which dominates the year's astrology. Mars-Neptune squares often lead us to take an action which ultimately results in impaired effectiveness, once the ignored factors' presence is unmistakably asserted. With Mars having to navigate both Saturn's and Neptune's influences, the police  shut its eyes to how someone might unfortunately suffer from the fallout of blindly stalking its singular target.

The reasons why exhaustion and burnout are so common

“Man is a microcosm, or a little world, because he is an extract from all the stars and planets of the whole firmament, from the earth and the elements; and so he is their quintessence.”
― Paracelsus

More and more people are suffering ‘burnout’ – but is this the fault of modern life or is physical, mental and spiritual exhaustion a far older condition? A few years ago, Anna Katharina Schaffner became the latest victim of the exhaustion ‘epidemic’. It began with a kind of mental and physical inertia – as she put it, a “sense of heaviness” in all that she did. Even the most mundane tasks would sap her of all her energy, and concentrating on her work became increasingly difficult. July 22

If  only people looked towards the heavens they would see that time has a quality that is unmistakably written in the stars. Astrologers are aware that currently the most significant aspect is the Saturn-Neptune square. As and when this square is brought into prominence by eclipses or ingresses, its message is clearly felt at that place. The news story from BBC was written just  a few days after the Sun entered sidereal Cancer – an important event in mundane astrology. Notice that the Jupiter-Saturn-Neptune T-square straddles the meridian at London. The extract below from the post Saturn square Neptune is Kicking in- Dissolving Ideas, Tiredness, the Aspect of 2016  [1] originally written in 2015  gives the astrological explanation for the burnout discussed in the BBC article.

It’s November 9th, 2015. We are just starting to feel the effects of the impending astrology aspect that will dominate the next entire year- Saturn square Neptune. We are in an era of being tested. Since September’s Jupiter opposition Neptune, and August’s Jupiter square Saturn, we’ve observed dissolving ideas, dissolving solid structures in people’s lives, confusion, themes of illusion and dissolving illusions. These are the things we will feel during Saturn square Neptune, peaking in November and December, to come back again in Spring 2016.

-Physical Tiredness
-Self Doubt, Dissolving Ideas and Life Principles
-Work and career associated situations involving confusion, illusion, doubt
-Karmic situations finally striking people back
-Hard truth crashing into people’s lives, like a Neptune flood of overwhelming truth; truth that may not even be discernible from fiction, considering the confusion aspect
-Spiritual Crisis, doubt, confusion

Physical tiredness becomes prevalent during this time, and cold Saturnian depression may blend with Neptunian seas of feeling to bring a drowning, inescapable underwater tomb of limitation.

Former Singapore President S R Nathan Dies

Sellapan Ramanathan, (3 July 1924 – 22 August 2016), usually referred to as S. R. Nathan, was the sixth President of Singapore from 1999 to 2011, having been elected in uncontested elections in 1999 and 2005. In 2009, he surpassed Benjamin Sheares to become Singapore's longest-serving President. Nathan suffered a stroke on the morning of 31 July 2016 and was taken to Singapore General Hospital's Intensive Care Unit.He died in hospital on 22 August 2016 at 9:48 pm SST, aged 92.He was survived by his wife Urmila Nandey, their daughter Juthika and son Osith, three grandchildren, and his sister Sundari. On 26 August, a state funeral was held at the University Cultural Centre of the National University of Singapore (NUS), followed by a private cremation at Mandai Crematorium.

The death of the former President S. R. Nathan can be attributed to the Mars-Saturn conjunction on August 24.  The conjunction took place on the 10th house cusp in Singapore. Mundane astrology recognizes eclipses and malefic planetary conjunctions in the 10th can cause the death of presidents and those in high offices. More specifically Mars-Saturn were conjunct the star Antares. Alpha (α) Scorpius, Antares, is a red binary star, fiery red and emerald green, near the center of the constellation Scorpius and was sometimes called "the Heart of the Scorpion". Diana Rosenberg links this star with heart attacks. The conjunction [10sa] was also in a health related quincunx aspect to the President’s natal Sun [10cn].

Indian man carries dead wife's body for 12km

An impoverished man in India carried his wife's body for 12km after the hospital where she died allegedly failed to provide an ambulance to carry the body back to their village. Dana Majhi's wife Amang, 42, died from tuberculosis in the district hospital in Bhawanipatna town in Orissa state. Mr Majhi said his village was 60km (37 miles) away and he couldn't afford to hire a vehicle. The hospital authorities have denied his charge.

The last total solar eclipse of March 9 will help explain this news. At Bhawanipatna, the eclipse was placed in the 12th house linked to hospitals [1]. It was placed amid stars in the flowing waters of  Aquarius. These stars bring up the theme of humanitarianism or the lack of it as in this case. The eclipse is conjunct Neptune and square Saturn. Since Saturn rules scarcity or lack while Neptune rules compassion, it brings up a story that deals with hard-heartedness. Neptune in the 12th is conjunct the asteroid Orpheus (death) and opposite Jupiter in Virgo in the 6th (house of illness) [1]. Jupiter-Neptune is linked to respiratory diseases as the extract [2] below explains:

Neptune in Pisces tends to weaken the physical constitution and can get sloppy with sanitation; Jupiter in Virgo really exaggerates this. It is hard to say if this will play out stronger in individuals charts or on a broader scale, but there is potential for big outbreaks here, so take extra precautions regarding hygiene, environmental safety and the like. Respiratory infection – fluids in the lungs is a Neptune/Pisces thing- might be a particular concern.

If we now progress the eclipse chart to August 24, the date of the news, we find that the progressed MC triggers the eclipse T-square on that day confirming its role in the news story.

The huge ghost airport where planes go to sleep

(CNN)On a cold, dry plain in rural eastern Spain, 1,000 meters above sea level, a surreal scene greets drivers speeding along the Mudejar Highway inland from the Mediterranean sea. Line after line of enormous jumbo jets appear silhouetted against the horizon. It's not a mirage, but the site of the largest industrial airport in Europe. Located outside the town of Teruel, the smallest of all Spanish provincial capitals, this is not a typical airport. This airport was built with other purposes in mind. It hosts aircraft from all over the world that have been withdrawn from service, be it temporarily or permanently, and caters to their maintenance needs. What it's not, however, is an aircraft junkyard. Some aging airliners may be scrapped here (after being stripped for valuable parts and spares) but plenty of new, perfectly serviceable aircraft are stored in Teruel. Some are ready to fly but are waiting for financial or legal issues to be sorted out. Some are here because their airlines need to temporarily adjust capacity to cope with fluctuating market conditions. May 16

No news report is without a connection to what is happening in our skies. As the ancients would say, “As above so below”, the timing of everything that happens on earth is influenced by what is happening in the solar system. The news on the Teruel airport came just a week before Mars in its long retrograde cycle reached its opposition to the Sun, often referred as the start of its synodic cycle. A chart drawn for the event at Teruel is shown here. Notice the opposition along with Moon,Saturn and the TNP Admetus completes a T-square with the Ascendant. The following edited extract from Jessica Adams explains how Saturn in Sagittarius is affecting the airline industry.

Sue Tompkins, author of The Contemporary Astrologer’s Handbook (Flare, 2006) notes ‘Sagittarius is the sign associated with travel.’ It is the ingress Saturn in Sagittarius, though, on Tuesday 23rd December 2014 that really rings the changes. There is no turning back from that point and we will have to live with new realities.

In the light of the above, the Mars synod in Sagittarius is another milestone in our understanding of a difficult new cycle for the airline industry. But perhaps what completes the picture is the presence of the TNP Admetus. Keywords for Admetus [1] include storage and inventory so that the airport here is acting as a sort of holding point for the aircrafts as the airline industry goes through a difficult phase.

The world's largest pearl has been under a bed for 10 years

One of the world's largest and most valuable pearls was left forgotten under a bed for more than 10 years, its owner told CNN. The enormous pearl, weighing 34 kilograms (75 lbs), was originally found inside a giant clam, said Puerto Princesa City Tourism Officer, Aileen Cynthia Amurao. She said her relatives discovered it and up until now have been using it as a good luck charm.  "He'd almost forgotten everything about the pearl until he was moving out, and he remembered he had something under his bed," she said. On August 20, Amurao posted photos of the monstrous pearl to Facebook, asking for gemologists who might be able to verify the pearl's weight and value.

The cardinal ingresses of the Sun have a traditional reputation as  important  mundane events. Of these the Capricorn Ingress has a special place and is considered by many to be the  annual chart. Shown here is the Capricorn Ingress chart for Puerto Princesa. Notice Mars-Uranus aligned with the horizon as part of a complex involving the Saturn-Neptune square. Mars [23li] is part of the Indian lunar mansion Chitra. The following extract explains the meaning of Chitra and its connection to pearls:

Glittering,Brilliant,Bright all are the key words that Chitra Nakshatra conveys. In a way this nakshatra conveys more of its inherent qualities through its name than any other asterism. Its alternative symbol is a ‘pearl’. Pearls are formed in an oyster’s moments of irritation, the same way art comes out of the artist’s moments of irritation and depression. Chitra is thus related to the mysterious essence behind creativity, using its clear understanding of the laws of the universe. It has the ability to fashion new, wonderful and delightful things out of seemingly nothing at all.

Neptune [7pi] which makes a hard aspect to Mars is part of the Arabic lunar mansion Sadachbia, from Al Sa'd al Ahbiyah (now called Sadalachbia) which has been interpreted the Lucky Star of Hidden Things or Hiding-places. Dr. Eric Morse adds that it indicates the ability to discover that which is hidden or lost.

If we now progress the Capricorn Ingress chart to August 20, the date of the news, Neptune reaches the IC and the configuration aligns with the meridian and is thereby triggered confirming its role in the surprising discovery!

Italy earthquake at Mars-Saturn conjunction

A magnitude 6.2 earthquake has struck central Italy, leaving at least 13 people dead and others trapped under rubble, Italian officials said. "Half the town is gone," said the mayor of Amatrice, one of the worst areas affected. A family of four were feared dead in the rubble of their house in the nearby town of Accumoli. The quake hit at 03:36 (01:36 GMT), 100km (65 miles) north-east of Rome, at a shallow depth of 10km. Some buildings in the capital shook for 20 seconds. Officials warned the number of fatalities was likely to rise. The head of the civil protection department compared the earthquake's intensity to Aquila in April 2009 in which 309 people died. Aug. 24

The earthquake comes exactly on the day Mars and Saturn conjoin. At Amatrice, one of the worst areas affected, the conjunction along with Neptune and the nodal axis forms a T-square with the meridian. Here Mars and Saturn are conjunct the star Antares about which Diana Rosenberg writes:

Antares also arouses great fires within the earth: this was Saturn at the great Port Royal, Jamaica earthquake of 1692: huge fissures swallowed multitudes, seismic waves drowned about 1600; Neptune at Sept, 1811 solar eclipse that preceded the massive New Madrid, MO earthquake series of 1811-12; Uranus at the stupendous eruption of Tambora in 1815; Mars when Surtsey, a new volcanic island appeared off Iceland in 1963; Neptune at the 1976 8.5 Táng Shan earthquake in China that killed 250,000; Venus at both the 1989 San Francisco and the 1995 Kobe earthquake; Mercury and Venus at the great Sumatra-Andaman undersea earthquake of December 26, 2004 killing between 200,000 to 310,000.

Finally, notice that at the exact time [03:36 am] of the earthquake, the Mars-Saturn T-square aspects the angles confirming its role in the earthquake.

Standing Up For Your Beliefs Is What Changes Your World

A new University at Buffalo study that assessed bodily responses suggests that standing up for your beliefs, expressing your opinions and demonstrating your core values can be a positive psychological experience. Our happiness, and ultimately our lives, are defined by the choices we make. When we allow other people to tell us how to feel, they are making those choices for us, and we are giving away our truth. Since all truths are true, we must define if it is our ego we are standing up for or something more. When we passionately believe in something, we should let people know why we stand up for those ideals. We may not change the mindset for others, but we may change the conversation. It then leads into different directions of consciousness and people begin to recognize why we are so adamant and passionate about out opinions even if others disagree with them. The findings, published in the journal Psychophysiology, provide new insights into what it's like being alone against the group, investigating the experience as it happens. Aug. 19

To understand what follows, for a moment let us think of several cycles unfolding in time as in the diagram above. As we can see there are  moments in time when several of the cyclic waves meet. It is at such moments that the common theme of the various cycles is reinforced. It is this understanding that has led  astrologers  to recognize that time has a quality.  Having understood this let us apply the idea to the current period.

We are not only in a particular lunar month which started on August 2 but during the month there is an important Mars-Saturn conjunction on August 24. Think of these as two cycles that define the quality of this month. The first chart presented here is that of the New Moon drawn for Buffalo. The New Moon is conjunct stars of Cancer and as we saw earlier this is all about the need to emerge into light and illumination from the  nest of the collective consciousness that we acquiesce to and uphold. Like the Egyptian Scarabaeus (dung beetle), it is about regenerating, re-birthing or being self-created – no longer a prisoner to the darkness and delusion of collective belief systems [1].

Next we notice that the New Moon forms a trine with Saturn on the Ascendant which in turn is part of a T-square. Here Saturn is conjunct the star Antares. Antares, Alpha Scorpio, is the heart of the Scorpion. In classical astrology, Antares is the star that asks us to take a stand against the established conditions of our personal lives and especially against the established collective consciousness that unwittingly directs our lives when those conditions are no longer in our best interest nor supporting our evolutionary freedom and fulfillment.

Having understood the deeper message contained in the New Moon, we now look at the chart for the Mars-Saturn conjunction which takes place very significantly on the IC square Neptune and the nodal axis.

Mars is our inner warrior. If we have a healthy Mars, we are able to assert ourselves in relationships, speak up in order to persuade others, and take action to achieve our goals. Saturn , (when undeveloped) is the power of consensus reality or consciousness  that swallows our creativity and positive motivation (recall the myth of Cronus eating his children.) The conjunction requires that we be ready to experience the challenge and the star Antares tells us that the best way to do that would be to speak our minds especially if it is about standing up against the prevailing consensus reality.

Finally, Neptune conjunct the south node is referring to the past when were easily influenced leaving us open to dangerous influences in the present and a general loss of will power. The square from Saturn to the nodes has probably left us with a feeling of futility of challenging the consensus reality. But the square to Mars requires that the confidence in the inner warrior must be restored. As individuals we must experience our own power and courage to express exactly how we feel.

Canada's stolen daughters

Perseus and Andromeda by Giorgio Vasari (1511)

Winnipeg, Canada (CNN)As Lauren Chopek painfully details her story, she does so with the reticence of a survivor, as if somehow remaining silent would have been better. "I used to blame myself for everything. But, like I, I would say I let them do that to me. I am dirty. It's my fault," says Chopek through tears. But Chopek is finally speaking out, determined to shake the guilt and shame that she knows should stalk her perpetrators instead of her. "Now I see that I was just a child," says Chopek, now sitting serenely in a safe house, a healing lodge in rural Manitoba that cradled her in the love and protection she so needed when she escaped her life on the streets. Aug. 23

In his post on the August New Moon, Darkness & Delusion to Light & Illumination, Nick Fiorenza writes:

The August 2, 2016 New Moon lies amongst the stars of the Egyptian Scarabaeus (our modern Crab), between Acubens and Asellus Aus of Cancer…Cancer, commonly the crab today, is also the Egyptian Scarabaeus, an image that articulates the theme of humanity's emergence from suppression, darkness, dogma, and delusion and its reawakening back to light. The Scarab is an appropriate mythical figure here because the beetle emerges from its snuggle in its own dung, where it matures. This theme also applies to our individual emergence from the family nest of the collective consciousness that we acquiesce to and uphold. The Scarab is a symbol of regeneration, transformation and re-birth, of being self-created, or self-made, to rise from itself—hence humanity's association with the beetle’s emergence.

If we remember that the various phases of the Moon are intrinsically connected to the New Moon message, then the August 24, Last Quarter (LQ) phase chart at Winnipeg begins to acquire meaning that explains the news. Notice that the LQ Moon is anchored to the MC and  Admetus-Pluto.

Admetus-Pluto: To come to recognize what can no longer be endured – and to deal with the accrued consequences of having pushed the self too far; having delayed elimination of intolerable problems, one faces confrontation (with self/others) and experiences a need for return to integrity – a need to know where one stands (and then to decide if one is willing to stand there!) [1].

The Moon [2ge]  conjoins Mirphak (Alpha Perseus). Perseus, in the story of Andromeda and the Royal Family, is the hero who slays Medusa, the Gorgon with seven snakes for hair, and then frees the princess Andromeda from being devoured by Cetus the Sea Monster [2]. Mirphak inspires responsible action to claim the true gift from the inner refinement we have gained through our past initiatory fires. Here we must acknowledge that our trials had to precede stepping forth into a greater fulfillment and our future destiny [3].

China opens world's highest and longest glass bridge

The world's "highest and longest" glass bottomed bridge has opened to the public in central China. The 430 metre long, six metre wide structure connects two mountains in Zhangjiajie, Hunan Province. It cost 22.5 million yuan (£2.5million) to build, according to state-run Xinhua news agency. Designed by Israeli architect Haim Dotan, visitors are able to peer down 300 metres to the ground through the transparent floor. Ninety nine panes make up the three layers of glass, which were smashed by men with sledgehammers in a publicity stunt to demonstrate their strength prior to the opening. Aug.20

The bridge, in the Tianmenshan National Forest Park in Zhangjiajie,  stretches 430m across a deep gorge with a terrifying 300m drop to the bottom of the valley. It was opened just after the lunar eclipse of August 18. A chart for the eclipse has it placed very significantly square the meridian axis and the TNP Admetus [0ge12] on the IC. Hold your breath the Sabian symbol for Admetus is :

The symbol essentially means that a new dimension of reality is being perceived. For this to happen, the conscious mind must become at least translucent so the boat is glass bottomed and so is the bridge!

The eclipse also makes a hard aspect to the TNP Kronos which is conjunct the star Alzirr. Xi (ξ) Gemini, Alzirr, is a 4th-magnitude star on the right foot of the Eastern Twin (Pollux) in the constellation of the Twins. Kronos indicates tall structures, mountains, the  height reached by airplanes - generally, highly situated places [2]. The Twins are often depicted hugging each other implying a connection between things. Here the new bridge provides a connection between two mountain peaks.

Tragically Hip: Dying singer Gord Downie bids Canada farewell

A Canadian band whose lead singer was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer have performed their last concert at the end of an emotional farewell tour. The Tragically Hip drew a sell-out crowd to the last show in Kingston, Ontario, on Saturday, broadcast live across Canada. PM Justin Trudeau, who was at the live show, said the band had "been writing Canada's soundtrack for over 30 years". Lead singer Gord Downie, 52, announced his illness in May. The news caused shock across Canada. Aug. 21

The Tragically Hip, often referred to simply as The Hip, are a Canadian rock band from Kingston, Ontario, consisting of lead singer Gord Downie, guitarist Paul Langlois, guitarist Rob Baker (known as Bobby Baker until 1994), bassist Gord Sinclair, and drummer Johnny Fay. They released 14 studio albums, two live albums, 1 EP, and 54 singles. Nine of their albums have reached No. 1 in Canada. They have received numerous Canadian Music awards, including 14 Juno Awards. Following Downie's diagnosis with terminal brain cancer in 2016, the band undertook a final tour of Canada in support of their thirteenth album Man Machine Poem. The group's final concert was held at the Rogers K-Rock Centre in Kingston, Ontario on August 20, 2016 just two days after a lunar eclipse. All eclipses are about some kind of endings  as is this one too.

A chart for the eclipse has it placed  exactly on the horizon at Kingston implying that this is one place where its effect is felt strongly. (Incidentally, the eclipse is also conjunct Downie’s radix Saturn [24aq] (d.o.b. Feb.6, 1964) which is in a wide conjunction to his radix Sun-Mars.)

ORPHEUS (also LACRIMOSA): Sad, sweet or haunting music, lyrics or poetry; dirges; sense of mourning and loss; grief (for what you don't have—what has gone out of your life--  “might have been” or what was); contact with death.

From the foregoing it is not difficult to see the possible death of a singer from brain cancer.

Olympic swimmers bring disgrace to US

US swimmer Ryan Lochte told NBC's Matt Lauer it was his fault that a fabricated story about a robbery caused an international Olympics scandal."I over-exaggerated that story and if I had never done that we wouldn't be in this mess," he said in a snippet of the interview aired on NBC on Saturday evening.
"None of this would have happened," he added about the aftermath in which three of his fellow swimmers were questioned by Brazilian police and one was ordered to donate nearly $11,000 to a Brazilian charity. Aug.21

The news from CNN comes just as the Moon moves into its waning Gibbous phase. A chart for the Moon phase at Washington, DC has Mars-Saturn-Neptune-Nodes T-square straddling the horizon axis.

Mars and Saturn on the Ascendant are conjunct the royal star Antares, alpha Scorpii – the heart of the Scorpion. Antares was the Sumero-Akkadian Dar-lugal, “The Great One, The King,” reputed to confer high position, honor and riches but as with the other royal stars, there is danger of fall from high position. In India, it was part of the lunar mansion Jyeshta. Jyeshta symbolizes that which has seniority in many ways, the oldest, the most powerful, the most praiseworthy. In our news story here, this star would therefore refer to the  winner or champion. Stars of Hercules connect this area to sportsmen and since the Dragon also dwells here, there is potential for greed and selfish and destructive malevolence. A few here become “representatives” of their nation and/or culture. But overconfidence and arrogance can get them into trouble for they may go overboard and come to believe themselves infallible. In their anxiety to be noticed, admired and promoted, they may become hypocritical and/or make wrongful accusations [1].

Mars-Saturn make a square to Neptune on the nodal axis. If as we saw above, Mars-Saturn with Antares and Jyestha is referring to a champion, Neptune in Pisces adds the element of water so we have a swimming champion. But Neptune in Pisces is also associated with deceit, lies and treachery so that the news is about a fabricated story!

Can it be a coincidence that as the news story on the disgraceful behavior of American swimming champions appears in the news, columnist Martin Berger’s  article entitled Modern America: The Empire of Lies appears in the press?

New study finds generosity is linked to specific part of brain

Scientists from Oxford University and UCL (University College, London) have identified part of our brain that helps us learn to be good to others. The discovery could help understanding of conditions like psychopathy where people's behaviour is extremely antisocial. The researchers were led by Dr Patricia Lockwood, who explained: 'Prosocial behaviours are social behaviours that benefit other people. They are a fundamental aspect of human interactions, essential for social bonding and cohesion, but very little is currently known about how and why people do things to help others. Aug. 16;

The results of the brain scan study at Oxford University can  best be understood if we begin with a chart for the March Total Solar Eclipse. In his post for the lunar month of March entitled Altruistic – Total Solar Eclipse, Nick Fiorenza wrote:

Our New Moon Solar Eclipse occurs amongst the flowing waters dispensed from the Urn of Aquarius. It also conjoins Fum al Samakah, the mouth of the primordial fish, and it lies under the auspices of Pegasus, between Homam and Markab, and over the Phoenix, a sign of renewal, rising from the ashes.

Hydor, Lambda Aquarius, a fortuitous star, lies in and guides the stream of the flowing waters of the humanitarian waterbearer. Hydor simply means water. Phi, Chi and Psi, and Omega Aquarius extend from Hydor, further dispersing the stream.

All of these stars articulate and impel the dispersion or distribution of humanitarian or altruistic resources. The stream of Aquarius is of nourishment, of giving and bestowal. These stars bring inspiration to facilitate for others the ability to move into a greater flow or involvement in life, to make it possible for others to sculpt or cultivate lives that lead to the fulfillment of their pursuits.

Notice that the eclipse along with its T-square was significantly placed straddling the horizon axis at Oxford where Dr Patricia Lockwood, the lead researcher is based. What cannot be seen in the chart is the asteroid Psyche [18ge], placed on the descendant, thereby completing a Grand Cross to the eclipse. A keyphrase for Psyche is “brain states” [1]. Adding this to Nick Fiorenza’s account on the eclipse, it is easy to see that, among other things, it is referring to brain states associated with generosity.

Finally, progressing the eclipse chart by the solar quotidian method, aligns the eclipse Grand Cross with the meridian axis on August 16, the date of the news, thereby triggering it and confirming its role in the findings of the study.

Did Hillary Commit Perjury By Lying to Congress?

The Virgin and the Crow

House Oversight Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz and House Judiciary Chairman Bob Goodlatte are making the case Clinton committed perjury by either lying to the FBI or lying under oath during Congressional testimony.  In a letter sent to U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Channing Phillips Monday, Chaffetz and Goodlatte outlined their case by highlighting numerous examples of Clinton's own conflicting statements about her private email server. Aug. 15

In this post we examine the astrological reasons why it is possible that Hillary’s lies could bring her big trouble. Hillary Clinton was born 26 October 1949. Her horoscope shows a Mercury-Neptune-South Node conjunction. A planet conjunct the south node works exactly as a planet conjunct the Sun – except that we are looking at the person’s identity in a prior life. Back then the person was seen as an embodiment of that planet. For Mercury-Neptune, Liz Greene and Howard Sasportas write:

Mercury-Neptune aspect  can indicate someone who finds it easy to lie, deceive or distort the truth [1].

Adding to the picture are the stars of Corvus that form a backdrop to the Mercury-Neptune-S.Node conjunction. About Corvus, Deborah Houlding writes:

Corvus is the Latin name for both the raven and the crow and these two birds are usually paired together in mythology. From the same family, their obvious intelligence and ingenuity, as well as their distinctive caw, has given them a widespread association with trickery, storytelling, the relaying of messages, and the serving of self-interest. But the colour of their plumage has also drawn a universal connection with malevolence, sinister forces, and ominous warnings. The stars of Corvus share this reputation and the classical myths that relate to the constellation speak of mistrust, shameful motives, insincerity, glorification in the misfortune of others, and the bearing of bad news [2].

When a planet transits the nodal axis it brings forth a certain type of karma. Gradually, all of our karmic potentials that have ripened manifest in this lifetime. We experience the results of what we have created in the past, for good or ill. Obviously, not all transits are equally powerful. A transit of Mercury may stimulate the axis for a few days and may not amount to much. But a transit of Pluto in hard aspect to the south node may change our lives for ever. And that is exactly what is happening in Hillary’s chart.

The table below is a list of Pluto and Jupiter transits to Mercury-Neptune and her nodal axis taking place currently.

*** END REPORT ***

When Pluto hard aspects Neptune, it  opens the way for truth to emerge by dismantling lies and structures of consciousness that obscure it. If we are unwilling to do that ourselves, we are often forced by others to acknowledge our lies.

Going back to Hillary’s natal chart notice that the various elements conjunct her South Node are spread from about 10 Libra to 17 Libra. Diana Rosenberg mentions that is an area of the Raven’s head and neck and the Virgin’s chest so that there is a liability to throat and lung problems and head ailments, including insanity, paralysis. This supports news about her health issues [3][4].
