Russian
President Vladimir Putin goes to Japan to meet PM Shinzo Abe for talks on the
volcanic islands that have stood in the way of a peace deal since World War
Two. After Japan's WW2 surrender but before any deal was signed, the Soviet
Union invaded the Southern Kuril islands. Known as the Northern Territories in
Japan, they lie between Hokkaido island and Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula. Tokyo
has long demanded their return, so a peace deal has never been agreed. The USSR
did not sign the 1951 peace treaty between Japan and the Allied Powers, but did
sign a joint declaration ending hostilities and restoring diplomatic relations
with Japan in 1956. With the Kurils standing in the way of a permanent peace,
Mr Putin will meet PM Abe at the hot spring resort of Nagato and in Tokyo to continue
a conversation that has been going for decades.

The Russian President Putin arrives in Nagato just a day
after a powerful Full Moon which falls square the meridian axis at the midpoint
between Tokyo and Moscow, the capitals of the two countries. In his blogpost for the current New Moon of November 29 entitled The
Neurology of Our Relationships, Nick Fiorenza writes:
The Full Moon occurs
on December 14 in late sidereal Taurus
in the horns of the Bull, producing the last of three successive Supermoons.
The Moon primarily conjoins El Nath, the north horn.
The Horns of the Bull,
marked by the stars El Nath and Al Hecka, the latter on the cusp of sidereal
Taurus / Gemini, lie over the head and belt of Orion, and south of Auriga, the
charioteer. The Horns of the Bull articulate the pursuit, struggle, and engagement
in the physical world.
Al Hecka, Zeta Taurus,
the south horn, is of stalemates, standoffs, and brick walls—fighting old and
antiquated crusades—particularly of a religious-political nature—and blindly or
automatically continuing the fight out of habitual pattern even though the
original purpose behind what we were fighting for is long gone. Al Hecka can
express as beating one's head against the wall, a relentless and futile
pursuit. Al Hecka brings attention to when the accomplishment pursued is of a
time no longer applicable—the time to surrender the physical struggle and move
onward into a field of mutual cooperation. El Nath, Beta Taurus, is the north
horn the Bull. El Nath motivates tenacious perseverance for accomplishment. It
inspires the drive to achieve a breakthrough. El Nath is of a worthy pursuit
for our future freedom.
Alignments with the
Horns ask us to discern the difference between causes of worthy pursuit verses
those driven from antiquated motive. They can produce either type of experience
depending on the exactness of the alignments to one horn or the other, as well
as a blend of both qualities—thus the need to discern whether tenacious perseverance
is required or if is time to simply let the struggle go. This is the true
bullhead few degrees of Taurus, which can produce one who is driven, insistent,
contentious, even forceful—for either the North Horn or South Horn theme.
The reader will notice that the above passage applies perfectly to the problem faced by Japanese and Russian negotiating teams. An old
problem could be resolved if each side takes a flexible stand as symbolized by
the star El Nath, the northern horn of the Bull. Jupiter-Uranus making harmonious aspects to the luminaries
suggest that a breakthrough is possible.
