Astrology of Hurricane Irma

Neptune – lord of seas and storms

Pisces is an era of storms and of wholesale disintegration. But Piscean winds of destiny may impel men of vision and courage to discover many a "new world," as much as they do destroy or suffocate the many who stubbornly resist change – Dane Rudhyar

With Florida already bracing for a hit from Hurricane Irma, which according to some models may attain "monster" Category 5 winds as it nears land prompting locals to store up on everything from water to food to gas and various other housing supplies, late on Monday afternoon Florida Gov. Rick Scott declared a state of emergency ahead of potential landfall, just hours after the governor of Puerto Rico did the same.  Sept. 4 http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-09-04/florida-declares-state-emergency-category-4-hurricane-irma-barrels-straight-miami

Mundane Astrology is the application of astrology to world affairs and world events, taking its name from the Roman word Mundus, meaning "the World". Among the horoscopes used are those of exact planetary aspects primarily conjunctions and oppositions. Like in any other branch of astrology, the four angles created by the horizon and meridian are of paramount importance. The four important angles on a chart are the Ascendant (cusp of the 1st house) Descendant (cusp of the 7th house), Midheaven (cusp of the 10th house) and IC (cusp of the 4th house). Planets and star constellations aligned with these angles always leave their mark on events.

As Hurricane Irma barrels towards Florida, Sun and Neptune form an opposition on Sept. 5 that aligns with the meridian at Miami.  A  day later the Full Moon [13pi] also aligns with this axis.
Being the ruler of the sea  Neptune is described as gathering clouds and calling forth storms. Neptune is at 12 Pisces. For this area, Diana Rosenberg writes:

These stars were transited at the Nov 440 CE Solar Eclipse, the year the city of Ys in Brittany  “was submerged in a great flood” and in 441, the sea submerged great parts of North and South Wales. Other weather disasters include the 1715 Los Capitanas disaster – the loss of a Spanish treasure fleet; the four day Great Blizzard of 1888 over New England; the 1900 Great Galveston, TX hurricane: about 8000 died; when a huge typhoon hit Hongkong in 1906: about 10,000 were killed; at one of the highest surface wind ever recorded, 256 mph during Hurricane Paka, Guam, 1997; in 1998 when a lethal F-5 tornado – highest on the Fujita Scale – winds of more than 250 mph hit west of Birmingham, AL in 1998, destroying entire communities at many others.

For the Sun position at 12 Virgo, Diana Rosenberg writes “Storms! – the highest score of any set of stars” and gives the following examples:

This was Neptune in 1274 when Khublai Khan’s 900 ship armada invaded Japan: a Kamikaze (“divine wind”) typhoon wrecked the fleet; these stars were rising at Havana at a New Moon the day after a Spanish fleet sailed in 1622, straight into a hurricane that sank 8 of the vessels. Other major storm events with transits here include a Bay of Bengal cyclone in 1864 when a 40-ft sea wave hit Calcutta leaving 50,000 dead; at the August 1935 New Moon 5 days before a Category 5 Labor Day Hurricane “the most intense and tight-knit ever to strike Florida” hit the Florida Keys, the barometer fell to the lowest ever observed in the US with wind estimated at 150-200 mph and several others.

Update September 7, 2017

Solar Eclipse and Hurricane Irma

PS:
It now appears that Hurricane Irma may be the strongest hurricane ever recorded outside of the Gulf and Carribean. So what astrological indicator do we have to indicate this? We shall see that the root cause is the solar eclipse of Aug. 21 triggered by the Full Moon that fell on the meridian of the eclipse chart.  At Miami, Florida and of course forseveral locations in Florida, the eclipse chart has Neptune on the IC among the same stars mentioned above. In astro-meteorology, the IC is  linked to the weather. Neptune here makes hard aspects to the TNPs Apollon and Vulcanus.

APOLLON: More than one.
VULCANUS: Surge of power.

The TNP Vulcanus is associated with power, strength or intensity while Apollon is multiple or more than one [2]. Apart from the news that Hurricane Irma may be the strongest hurricane ever recorded, we now understand that two more Hurricanes are forming: Jose Right Behind Irma, Katia In The Gulf.
