It’s
November, again, and the same headlines blanket news outlets in India and the
world: air pollution in Delhi has hit dangerous levels. Since last winter, this
problem had faded from public concern as had the smog itself — until now. Yet,
particulate pollution isn’t restricted to Delhi or to winters. Nov.12
Astrology supplies the framework for understanding events in
the news that would otherwise appear to be unconnected. In the previous post
[1] we saw how the Last Quarter Moon of Nov.11 was connected with concerns
about environmental contamination.
The Moon [18le] is
conjunct theta Hydra of the poisonous Water Snake while for the Sun [18sc]
which is placed amid stars of the Serpent, Diana Rosenberg writes,
“environmental contamination”.
Here we shall see how the same Quarter Moon is shining a
light on the Delhi air pollution disaster. At Delhi, the Sun and Moon are
anchored to the meridian through a quincunx and sextile aspects. Let us
remember that a mundane aspect becomes significant for a place when it is
anchored to the angles.
Additionally, if as we shall see in this case, there are
stars on the angles which resonate with the stars of the Full Moon, then an event takes place which contains the
common theme. The Ascendant of the Quarter Moon chart at Delhi [18vi] is
conjunct the star Denebola [21vi]. About this area, Nick Fiorenza writes:
Zosma, Chort and
Denebola are a triangle of stars that form the hind of the Lion. Denebola is
the tail. Zosma and Chort can indicate …. toxic congestion. This area of late
Leo is of foul breezes and smoke screens.[2][3]
Putting the pieces together we can see why Delhi and the
surrounding regions are waking up to the problem of air pollution.
